"Someone pinned Templemoor, but gave no information about this historical home. This 2 and a half story brick mansion built in the Italianate style in 1874 was the boyhood home of West Virginia author Melville Davisson Post (1869-1930). Famous for his mystery novels, he is most noted for his many "Uncle Abner" short stories. Uncle Abner was a country sleuth who solved mysteries set in the backwoods of central West Virginia at the turn of the century. In writing this it is my hope that it will spark some interest in the study of West Virginia's past. I had never heard of Melville Post until I came across this pin on Google Maps. The lone photo was a Street View image that still left me in the dark about Templemoor. I've included 2 pics (one fairly early and one recent) neither of which I took. They came from Wikipedia (photo credits Jerry & Roy Klotz, M.D., and the early black and white from the historical registry, 1915). I hope I have shed some light."
