"This is one of if not the coolest historic sites I’ve seen. Tucked away with very low traffic, this place is magical. The host is laid back, knowledgeable, and very accommodating, and the mill itself is an amazing trip back in time. Highly recommend."
"This location is a hidden treasure. Absolutely beautiful!!! A piece of history so well preserved... just lovely"
"Love this little slice of Maine history. The mill property dates back to 1847 and has multiple things to see/do including a period house tour, functioning blacksmith shop and shingle mill and cooper's shop. Well worth a visit if you're looking for a quiet and relaxing afternoon activity. Open the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month May through September."
"This restored Lumber mill was a bustling Water powered company, setting over the Crooked River at the turn of the 19th Century ! Scribner being the family name still have direct descedents living in the original family home ! The home is decorated with period furniture & personal family objects of interest. Open to the public on certain weekends during the summer! Also on the grounds is a blacksmith in his coal fired work shack pounding out vintage hardware! Also on premises are vintage buildings with many implements & farm type equipment. The Volunteer run demonstrations are informative & interesting (old school) technology! This old facility has had some huge turnouts in the past but numbers have shrunk last year ! Food was available in the past and was always a treat ! But not this year ! Hopefully it will be more popular at the August Weekend!"
"A very picturesque location with an amazing history. We were very fortunate to have a brief conversation with Marilyn Hatch regarding the history of the property."
