"I can’t believe that most people in central Florida have never heard of this place. If you love history (like I do) you must go visit this home! Frederick Debary’s winter home was the original snow bird home in central Florida. He lived in New York and made all his money importing wine and champagne from his home country of Germany. Three Presidents and a future king of England were guests in the home. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable! Don’t miss this gem of Florida and US history. It’s great to visit during the holidays as it is beautifully decorated!"
"Great old house with a lot of character and charm! Glad the state could take it over to keep it up for the future! We have lost plenty of old houses due to neglect! The pre show is impressive and informative. Lots of parking available. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable our guide was spot on! They have short trails to follow or just explore the surroundings in the area! They have snacks and drinks for sale! And picnic areas with grills."
"What a great find. This is a great place to stop at while walking the tail or just diving by. For walkers it’s a good place as you can buy water and there are nice bathrooms there. It was a Wednesday afternoon and we were the only people there but for a few workers. There are benches, a bike fix station and a covered picnic pavilion with more picnic tables around the park. The parking lot is large and I would think it would be easy to find parking unless there’s a special event going on. They offer tours for $6 ($5 for seniors) but you can walk the grounds for free. This was an easy 5 Star review."
"Great tour of a beautiful home! We rode our bikes on the trail from Lake Monroe park and stopped at the home for lunch and a tour! Watch a short movie in a small theater house then Judy our guide gave us a tour of the house! She was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. If you like old homes this is a must do!"
"My husband and I found this place unexpectedly and it was such a wonderful visit! Our tour guide was so amazing and knowledgeable and the manor itself was not only beautiful but amazingly well built! We were continuously surprised by all the simple little additions that must have made this manor incredibly luxurious for its time."
