About the Business
The Old Presbyterian Meeting House is a welcoming and inclusive institution located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. As a church and place of worship, we are dedicated to living out God's grace and spreading love and service to the world. Our worship services are less liturgical and feature spirit-filled music, with a weekly celebration of the Lord's Supper. Children are always welcome, and attendees are encouraged to come as they are, whether in suits or jeans. Join us on your journey of faith, as we seek to recruit new disciples, renew the faith of existing disciples, and spread the Gospel of Christ to all.

"OPMH has a beautiful and historic building (fun fact, it once burned down on a Sunday) but what we love about it is the welcoming community. We especially like the low key 8:30 service, which is a bit more casual, with piano instead of the organ and just us folks singing. The 11 am service is perfect if you're looking for a more traditional service, but we like the informality and warmth of the early one."
"OPMH is a welcoming congregation in a beautiful and historic church. Truly a lovely place of worship."
"OPMH made us feel at home in Old Town right away! From our first visit in 2015 attending their Wednesday adult classes with dinner and fellowship time included, to the adult and young children programming, to their annual retreats in Massanetta Springs, to their Taizé services. BVS school, and Christmas readings you name it! OPMH was key for our young family years lived in NoVa. We loved the community so much, that even while living in DC for the next couple years we would commute on Sunday mornings. I'd encourage anyone interested to review their website to learn about the many options to worship, serve and connect or just pop into one of their in-person events! OPMH has impressive online capabilities. This church is part of PCUSA, which brings me to the main area of opportunity I still see there, OPMH still has plenty of room to grow to become a Earth Care Congregation as for waste reduction, better recycling and on-site composting. OPMH could even become a drop-off site for local community decentralized composting! Overall, if you have children and ISO intergenerational meaningful fellowship, give OPMH a try, it will not disappoint you."
"I had the incredible fortune to have been attending this wonderful congregation since my elementary school years in Sunday school. Some lessons are never forgotten and I can still hear the sermons and lessons from Rev William Randolph Sengel and Reverend Edna Banes in my memory. The fellowship from OPMH followed me through my young adulthood and I was also married at. OPMH. My father sang in the choir. Life kept changing and now I am living outside of Philadelphia, but no one walks alone in this wonderful and inspiring congregation!"
"Handel’s Messiah at the Old Presbyterian Meeting House was a delight! Thanks to the artists who sang and played the music and to the talented director Steven Seigart. If you missed it this year plan to be there next year for this new tradition. It stirred my testimony of Jesus Christ and increased my knowledge of Him. My new favorite stanza: Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, thy King cometh unto thee; He is the righteous Saviour, and He shall speak peace unto the heathen. (Zechariah 9:9-10) it was a pleasure to hear and see Suzanne Karpov Seigert sing this message of love to all women."
