Reviews of The John Brown House Museum
"Cool old house. Very friendly staff/volunteers. For the price, there's really nothing to complain about. We enjoyed our visit."
"A well-curated and well-maintained house museum. It not only tells the story of the Brown family and their property, but also explores connections to race, class, politics, and commerce in Rhode Island, America, and across the world. It’s not afraid to share “hard histories.” Additional exhibits explore other aspects of the state’s past. The museum manager, Mr. Hernandez, was very knowledgeable, thoughtful, and welcoming. Cheers to the Rhode Island Historical Society and its staff."
"It was a nice place! People who come here can learn more about the history of John Brown and his family, how they lived, and their journey for Rhode Island."
"Scott was the best tour guide. He was a wealth of information and really made the history come alive! Such a fascinating story of John Brown, his family and the city of Providence! This is a must do when in town!"
"Easy to find and a quick check in. It is self guided but audio available as well as info in each room. Docent available as needed as well. He was very knowledgeable in the family. Spent about 1 hr here and it was worth the time."
