Reviews
"We learned a lot during our visit. WW II espionage personnel were trained here. During Fort Ritchie's early days, ice was raised here for refrigeration as far away as Baltimore, which would have been quite a trip back then. Part of the Appalachian Trail was only a few miles from there."
"What a great place ! Very nice small museum. Beautiful place too visit and learn some military history."
"I found this museum informative for the small structure it's in. The history it presents of the area and its use, Camp/Ft. Ritchie is mainly centered around WW2 and the Korean War. However, one wouldn't know it went beyond into the 1990s. They have many books and historical documents for resources and reading while there. None of the other old buildings on campus are open to tour, but they have a map with details for a driving tour of place. The photos I post are of the Ritchie castle across the street from the museum. This area is close to the Appalachian trail and High Rock... great area to visit before/after a hike."
"Opened in July 2023, this ery new and modern museum tells the tale of Fort Richie. Plenty of exhibits, including a searchable database of service members who were stationed here. The whole base is coming alive with a thriving community center, a cafe, and more. I saw folks kayaking in the lake. Plenty of parking, this museum is a must-see. Give about 30 to 60 minutes to go through. Highly recommend. About 45min from Frederick city."
"Wow! This Museum is great! Giving long overdue recognition to the Ritchie Boys and others that have been stationed and served here along with Korea Memorial and more. I highly encourage you to visit this growing museum and enjoy the grounds around the museum."
