Reviews of IU Health Physicians Anesthesia - Riley Outpatient Center
"I have visited Tsangaris Pediatric Pumonary Dc. He and his team were very knowledgeable and polite. They have given enough time to listen and explain everything in detail. I highly recommend this hospital for your children’s medical conditions."
"The staff was really friendly and professional. They made us feel comfortable. I wish the rooms were more soundproof. Unfortunately an infant was crying almost the whole time my kids was trying to wake up. Of course I feel for the infant. The crying was uncomfortable for us all. They gave my kid gifts and let him play on a tablet. He had a good experience, considering what he was going through."
"Amazing service today! 5 Stars! Go here with your children if you meed great doctors who really enjoy what they do. Dr Adkinson and Amy are amazing individual's! Job well done!"
"they r really nice and great with my 6 year old"
"Bait and Switch – My daughter visited an in-network doctor at Riley who recommended a very routine procedure (so routine, no precertification required). The procedure was to be performed at Riley by the same doctor and was scheduled from his office on the Riley campus. I checked my insurance plan and sure enough, Riley Hospital was in-network. After the procedure was completed, however, I began receiving bills for an out of network rate. My insurance company insisted that Riley was out of network; however, I made multiple calls to IU Health and was told REPEATEDLY by different agents that they were in-network. I was advised to sit tight and they would try to uncover the issue with the insurance company. For months, I received a payment statement and each time contacted Riley to check the status and each time they assured me that they were working on it and that indeed, we should have been billed an in-network rate. After approximately a year of back and forth, Riley finally determined that, yes, we were responsible for out of network expenses as the procedure was performed at Riley Outpatient vs Riley Hospital, which apparently have different tax ID numbers. How in the world can the average person be expected to understand the subtleties when those providing your care and work in this business every day cannot? After a year of fighting, I gave up -- apparently it is my fault that I did not know that the outpatient surgery center has a different Tax ID number, thus is a different entity from Riley and thus my problem. Yes, I spoke to supervisors, yes I attempted to work it out with anyone/everyone there, and they were sorry that I was stuck paying an out of network deductible PLUS out of network rates. In fact, if anyone went back and listened to the run-around I was given in my tens of calls/conversations with them, it would be a comedy skit of "who's on first" as everyone who looked it up at IU Health believed it was in network – until I requested that we include the insurance company on the phone with IU Health and the insurance company pulled out their contract with them. While IU did reduce my rate some, I'm still out about an extra $1,000 more than I should have had to pay and countless hours of frustration trying to rectify the situation. If you cannot trust their business office to do what's right, why should anyone expect those treating you to do what's right? RECOMMENDATION - St. Vincent, St. Francis and Community have excellent facilities, with exceptional doctors. When my daughter needed surgery, St. Vincent was fantastic and I understand their Children's Hospital is wonderful. I always recommend working with honest people -- especially when it matters most!"
