"My parents (91 and 93) have been paying for long-term care insurance since 1985. They have a wonderful plan that pays out indefinitely as needed. In April of 2023, I began a claim as they both had to move into assisted living. I had to send claim information and claim support three times. They finally acknowledged they had received it in July because I sent the information the third time requiring they sign for it. Then they said it would take 45 days to process. I tried to set up online accounts for them, but the site is now closed until October. We have met our 100 days of self-pay and have had to self-pay for two months beyond that because they haven’t settled the claim. Their doctors and assisted living manager are both willing and available to verify their need for assisted living. I am afraid that I am going to have to take two days off of work, make an appointment for one of their offices, take my file box of documents, and fly for an in -person meeting. I am becoming extremely unhappy with this."
