"When I was 10 years old in 1951 we moved to Ridgecrest.... I am now 79...This park was there then.... All it had was some really nice swings and a Basketball net on the grass... There was a a softball area but it just appeared by us using that area as such...Not something really built by the city.. There was a shallow grass ditch that ran thru the middle and went out on Oak St. The grass was very nice and kept. However we never saw any city workers, ever. There was a couple of large bushes and a shade tree... We looked for 4 leaf clovers in the grass...There was actually 4 ways to enter the park....Bart Starr and family lived on National Ave. near that entrance....Everybody hung out in the park with their dogs and bicycles.....I got to ride my first motorcycle in the park...I was 13...Jerry Palmer let me ride his Harley 165... Gatewood Walden also rode his 165 to the park sometime. There was never any rules against anything and it all went great...no problems. Usually there would only be a handful of kids in the park.... No crowds...Never saw any grownups... Hope maybe some older folks comment on their early years in Ridgecrest,,,,I enjoyed my time living there... Rodney"

"Well this park are located in 3600 block of April st I, first started using it in 1973 and I still go out each and every day for an hour a day even without running water the city aren't keeping it together like they do gate way park.."
"This park is in Fairly nice place to visit, it has two tracks, the biggest being around a lake with an split section uphill and level which challenges a person to make a serious decision. The smaller track has exercise equipment around it within the first hundred yards and also has a play area for children within it. Unfortunately they have no water fountains at work never the less they do have a restroom that seems to be fairly up kept. Hope this helps, be safe and enjoy"
