Reviews of New Caney Creek Falls Trailhead
"Great trail. Had some pretty steep inclines. It was beautiful and will definitely make the trip again."
"Private land access via "The Captain" great guy and nice to chat with. Slow roll on the pups, they warm up lol. As we say in the south, "Them real squirrel holla's" ;) Beautiful area and fall colors exploded. Carry your walking stick!"
"This was a great little hike. And parking at Mr. Tidwell's property was a breeze. I did hang around a bit to talk with him. He likes to talk about life and the Bible which if fine by me. He lent me a hiking stick to scare away any snacks. And I did encounter one. Please leave him a donation in his mailbox as a thank you for maintaining a trail on his land and allowing people to park at his home to access the falls. I hear they'll tow your car at the old access point."
"I’ve done a lot of waterfall trails before and will say this was one of the oddest experiences. I don’t quite understand why a National Forest wouldn’t have a marked trail and you would need to park at someone’s house? But you do follow a gravel road down by some houses. And right when you’re thinking where am I, you see some handwritten signs saying the the trail is ahead. I would strongly recommend bringing dog treats because there is a tiny ankle biter there to greet your ankles and another dog on a chain loudly barking at you as you walk very close by him…. There is a warning sign “Beware of Dogs” so we were passing by at our own risk. I wouldn’t bring my kids on this trail unless they are experienced climbers or dog fighters. I would also suggest finding signs to actual marked trails. View was great and we hiked the trail pretty quick (about 40 mins). Where the orange markers end, you take a left towards the waterfall (you can hear it very loudly). The waterfall was beautiful!"
