"I didn't expect the benefits I received from my acupuncture experience here. I had no particular injury I was trying to address, but explained to Tony that I experience some work-related stress/anxiety. Tony was very friendly, sensitive, and kind during the experience, which took place in an amazingly comfortable medical lazy-boy with soothing music playing in the background. I drove 2.5 hours for my acupuncture experience, based on a recommendation from a friend. Here are the things that surprised me the most: I expected the needles to be painful, but was proven wrong immediately. They only hurt for a split-second. In that moment, I was suddenly made aware of certain muscles in my arms and legs that I had been 'tensing' without realizing it. I practice muscle relaxation techniques, but the acupuncture brought about an increased 'body-awareness' I hadn't experienced before. It seemed that in that moment, my body was 'forced' to relax. I loved the community acupuncture experience, and would recommend bringing a friend or two along--it was a great new experience for all of us, and it was fun to discuss the sensations we experienced. I could easily see people going as a group here in the same way that lots of people go with friends for other 'spa-like' experiences. The friends I brought along had great experiences too--they described feelings of 'floating', 'peacefulness', 'energy', and 'relaxation'. Also, I was a little relieved to learn that there was no need to take off clothing other than socks/shoes. Tony has a soft-spoken gentleness about him that helps you relax and open up. I found myself spilling my guts out to him, and can easily see his talents as a clinical counselor too--I heard that a lot of people go there for talk-therapy sessions alongside their acupuncture sessions, which makes total sense to me now. On the long drive home we all agreed to do it again at the next opportunity. The 'forced relaxation' body sensation has only minimally diminished since--for me, the benefits seem to last for several weeks at least. I can't recommend this experience enough!!"
