"I recently had the pleasure of trying some of their spirits at a party and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff who were more than happy to talk us through their different alcohols. Overall, I was really impressed with the quality and variety of their spirits. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for something a little bit special for their next party or gathering."
"A rustic distillery, really easy to miss it. The owner established an authentic New England experience with the tasting room in a renovated cigar house. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable clearly spending his time meticulously crafting every liquor. Every drink has been developed to be drinkable and they accomplished that goal. Their gin has a unique flavor profile not found in any other type of gin with a bold yet mellow botanical front and if you have the chance get their limited edition barrel aged gin. Their rye whisky has been developed to smooth out that inherent bitterness, to bring all the more subtle flavors forward. Amazing vodka especially if you like polish style, on top of that it’s entirely sourced in connecticut from one of the oldest farms in the state. Do the trip it’s worth it for the best distillery in the state."
"We went for a hike to the mine hill preserve and figured we'd stop in the distillery to see what they had. We were not disappointed! Elliot told the history of the building and area. I really appreciate how they source local ingredients and give the used grain back to farms that can use it for feed. The spirits were certainly "craft." All interesting and very good. They also have some great branded merchandise. Highly recommended."
"We are visiting family from out of state and love to visit local distilleries when we travel. Mine Hill was a great quick excursion! They are a small operation but sound like they have an awesome long term vision for their distillery! We called ahead and Assistant Distiller Erik met us at the door. He helped make our experience stellar. Incredibly knowledgeable and personable. He gave enough details to keep my whisky wizard husband entertained with new info but also not so jargon heavy to turn off those of us wit interest. He’s clearly proud of their work! Their product was unique and enjoyable. Their Rye and Bourbon are clearly young but you can taste the flavours developing. Their gin was good! We don’t generally enjoy gin but Mine Hill was incredibly unique and I actually enjoyed it. We bought a bottle of their Amaro though because it was so good and unique! We tasted amaro in Italy a few weeks ago and Mine Hill’s was authentic but also a unique spin. It is sweet with some bite. Trust your tasting professions when they recommend you try it! Amazed that the tasting is free. Erik easily spent 40 minutes with us patiently answering questions. Also love their bottling and their motto with nods to their local history."
"Was lovely meeting Elliott, charming owner of this beautiful property, and hearing of how he and his family have carefully restored and preserved it's historically significant buildings. He is truly knowledgeable of the 100+ years in history this place has behind it and clearly shows his passion for the story. Enjoyed the tour very much, which culminated in a tasting. I was pleasantly surprised to find a vodka "sippable" as it's not usually my drink of choice. The gin was even better!"
