"I've been practically driving by this house for 15 years and never knew it. It's a gorgeous interior with a lot of attention to detail. Sprawling with additions, and a surprisingly interesting history of the owner, a woman who was the top dairy cow breeder and producer in the state. Entry is free. I visited during Christmas and the decor was fantastic but will be going back when they are open again on spring to see the house in its traditional state. Docent was present but visitors are welcome to tour themselves. The state park also has educational buildings for programs on the property (much nicer than is typical for the CT Parks System!), and walking trails across the quiet street."
"Very beautiful old house. Decorated nice around Xmas time. Beautiful gardens and trees. Nice piece of old farmland. Nice story about the history of owner and property. Worth a visit. One of the best places to see in derby."
"Historical landmark with beautiful gardens. An educational center on premises . Free program's"
"The house was closed but I was there to hike the red trail. It is a verity of areas, you get closed forest, wide open fields, rock areas. It is great for the senses"
"A few years ago we had a tour inside the house during one of the CT Open House events during June. Taking pictures of the inside of the house was not allowed at that time. When we visited this time the ground was open for free. Which was on September 26, 2020."
