The complex has strict safety rules in place, including the mandatory use of empty chamber indicators for all firearms and the requirement of eye and ear protection at all times on the range. Handling firearms behind the yellow line is not allowed, and shooters must stay away from benches and firearms when the red lights are flashing. Holstered firearms are not permitted on the range, and guns can only be loaded while in the lane during the live fire period. Smoking or tobacco chewing inside the range fence is prohibited. Shooters must only shoot from their assigned lane and rapid firing is not allowed.

Special rules apply to the pistol range, such as no kneeling or sitting to shoot. Only shotguns with slugs are allowed on the range, and tracers, incendiary gas, or explosive ammo are not permitted. Any damage to baffles or posts will result in charges, and shooters who disobey range rules or safety officer commands will be asked to leave the facility.

Atterbury Shooting Complex offers the option to open on closed days for larger groups over 40 for a fee of $1500. They also accept special order guns with the manufacturer's SKU number and offer consignment services for firearms that fit their shop, with a 10% fee when sold.
