Reviews of Riverside Junior High School
"very nice"
"Easily the most beautiful junior high/intermediate school in Fishers- it is the newest of them all and surrounded by woods. My daughter is an 8th grader and had a great experience in both intermediate and now in junior high. Their music and orchestra program is truly unmatched. Minus one less than amazing math teacher- I have been so impressed with the classes, teachers, and curriculum being taught. She is definitely well prepared for high school. I’ve noticed recently she has been learning concepts in her science and English courses that I didn’t learn for the first time until high school. Also- they have real goats that live on the grounds! Highly recommend Riverside if you are considering living in Fishers and attending HSE schools."
"Was supposed to be the class of 2016, however, I was pulled out early during my 7th grade year because some admin staff decided to transfer my papers to another school for some ungodly reason that got me taken away from my past adopted parents. I went to the Intermediate and the Junior High Side, and I can safely say these things about the school: Cons: - The school staff and admin are snowflakes, they shy away from fun to be politically correct and it drives me insane thinking back to those banners on the Junior High side emblazoned with "Abolish the R Word" - The teachers are strict in most cases. I remember my 6th grade teacher, a great guy might I add, Mr. Gutwein screaming at me because of something menial, which added to my disdain of attending that school. - The lunches weren't TOO bad, as they were supplied by Gordon Food Services. However, I currently attend Emmerich Manual High School in Indianapolis, and I can say that lunches could be worse, and that shortages are common among most schools. However, the crime was that these lunches cost MONEY. The school made enough on its own to survive with free lunches, however, they still forced us to pay, which is ridiculous given the quality. - You do not have anyone to talk to. Yes, the administration is welcoming and whatnot, but they are not to be trusted with confidentiality. You can't confide anything serious without it going straight to the top and becoming a huge problem/scandal. This goes with my other point about being removed early, even though I only told a close friend I MIGHT be leaving school. - The school requires you to have music or something in your schedule each week, which isn't too bad, but it can get repetitive over time. Pros: - Teachers prepare you for high school. This school really gave me some good insight on how to prep for high school. They had me writing nearly constantly, which sucked then, but I see the utility of it. - Library has an amazing selection. You need a book? It's there. With 2 2-story libraries at your disposal your entire time at the school, there is no end to what you might want or need to read, and last I saw, there was plenty of time when you are heading to the buses to pick out something to take home for the day :) - Nice facilities, so no disgusting bathrooms or old equipment being used generally. It isn't a poor school in any sense of the word, so you can expect good equipment being used throughout. Conclusion: 2 Stars This school has a lot of sentimental value, but it does have some glaring flaws. If your goal is high school prep, go for it, but if you are looking for good quality staff and function, look elsewhere. Tl;dr: Good School, Bad Management - C/SFC Bishop, Redskin Battalion -"

"Excellent Junior High in Fishers! I cannot express enough how wonderfully talented the teachers & administration at this school are. It is a privilege to be a parent of a student who attends this excellent institution."
