Reviews of George Washington High School
"Contrary to the incredibly low score, attending Washington isn't nearly as awful as most infer. See, there is stigma surrounding the school and how it should be the last place you want your kid to end up in, I mean yes, we are by no means as fancy or as big as selective enrollment schools- in which a lot of that has to do with the funding we receive- but our school offers some great, rigorous courses such as AP and the IB program which are sure worth attending the school for. There's something for everyone at this school: if your kid is interested in the arts we have AP art, Art 1 & 2, Honors art, and juniors and seniors have the opportunity to take duel credit college courses with the Advanced Arts Program downtown everyday (but I digress). The teachers themselves are a whole other reason Washington is worth attending; these teachers are passionate about educating their students to the best of their abilities. A lot of the teachers have either graduated from Washington or have lived around the south side area themselves, and know what it's like to be given the lower hand, so you can tell they want their students to excel in their studies and go beyond. The teachers are just truly inspiring and insightful and I am wholeheartedly grateful to have been taught by them for the past three years. Going into my senior year I don't regret coming to this school; I've seen it progress over the years and know that it will continue to do so. Essentially, don't be afraid to send your kid to Washington, there are pros and cons -as with any school- but the pros are undoubtably worth it."
"A truly wonderful school filled with an almost electric culture. Very lively throughout the day, with a very lovable staff, and an almost homelike feeling the longer you spend at the school. This five is not only because I love the school, but also serves to counter the one star reviews made by a large quantity of kids that got salty when a fool of a friend of theirs got in trouble. Don't believe the horrid reviews, the school has made a wonderful turnaround in recent years."
"Dear GW High School staff, You guys are poopy heads! I think if you worked with students more and were Nicer to them they would perform much better. The way stuff is taught is very bad Boring as in GROSS!!!! I am personally disgusted Hard by the teachers' ability to engage classes. If I was the principal of this school I would wack each teacher in their BEHINDS to teach them a Well Lesson and then I would fire their Behinds. You should be Ashamed, stinky, nasty Yucky boys and Teacher -_-"
"An improving school that focuses to prepare students for college and life. The staff and teachers are dedicated; they want students to succeed. Many students are focused and work diligently, but a few often find themselves off track."
"I'm happy to say my daughter is going into her Junior year and so far has never had any problems or issues. I believe having a good principal is the key to success! Thanks to Mr. Gallick, our school is becoming an awesome school and our children will certainly achieve success if they take advantage of all the opportunities the school offers."
