"They don't cover anything. I can not stress enough how not worth it Prudent Pet Insurance is. You would SAVE MONEY by not having their insurance versus signing up for their "coverage," I am being so serious. I only signed up for Prudent because they were offered as an option when I got my dog. Prudent Pet "Insurance" labeled every claim I've had beyond the waiting period as "preexisting," even if there was emergency care. When I did have emergency care, they said it "could be considered preexisting" in writing. On top of that, medications, vet visits, emergency visits, and new conditions weren't covered. Everything was "preexisting," or "not in your plan," but there were no other plan options. They are a true insurance company, takes all the money but doesn't pay a dime. Can't I wait to drop. To anyone looking for pet insurance, I hope this helps! I can upload all 4 denial/"unfortunately..." emails they've sent me and over $1,000 in non-reimbursed claims over the past three months if anyone would like receipts. I'd be happy to provide. Best, A relieved to move on customer."
"Got the pet insurance in November. Paid for November. Dec, Jan, Feb. Filed a claim in February and the company wanted a full clinical profile on my dog in order to pay. They waited until I filed the claim to request this information. It is not in their policy that I was supposed to provide them with this information. Depending on what they were requesting, I could have inquired about it before signing up if it was disclosed. No, this company waited until I had paid several months knowing that they would not pay for one single thing without a full clinical profile on my dog. I'm sure the company would continue to deny my claim if I stuck around even if I submitted whatever full clinical profile they were requesting. I sent bloodwork with the claim that was taken on the same visit and the company could have requested the X-rays and the vet notes that were taken on the same visit directly from the vet. What did they want? Of course, the company did not tell me. I'm guessing Every clinical report of every vet my dog has seen in 9 years when I don't have a regular vet since my dog has never really been sick and I've moved several times? Unscrupulous! Don't waste your time. This company will probably deny every single claim you make. If I could give them a zero stars, I would. I Cancelled. Don't believe the five star reviews! If you look closely, those five star reviews are by persons that have never left a review for anything else. What does that tell you?"
"Labels everything as pre-existing, including “diarrhea”. I have a 4 month old puppy. They always have diarrhea for various reasons. She had diarrhea once due to Giardia right before the policy kicked in, now she has diarrhea again (which is a symptom of many things, not an illness by itself, by the way). We are still trying to figure out why, but it’s not Giardia since she has tested negative for both the antigen and cysts for several weeks now. Prudent Pet basically said any time she presents to the vet with diarrhea, they will consider it pre-existing."
"Very responsive and helpful customer relations team. My dog had to have surgery to remove cancerous tissue and they were so helpful in preauthorizing the procedure. Reimbursement was super quick and easy too. The funds were in my checking account within a few days after I submitted paperwork, well before I had to pay my credit card bill I charged it too. The 24/7 vet chat is also really nice to have—my dog got into some chicken wing bones over the weekend last summer and it def saved me a trip to the emergency vet!"
"The claims are super easy to process and I have received quick payments. However, she did get diagnosed with a condition that Prudent found preexisting, but we had never been diagnosed or talked to about it previous which was frustrating."
