"Long post but informative about IU health care. Back in 2021, I noticed I started gaining a lot of weight around my stomach. I went from 109 to 145 in 4 months, and of course, I wasn't going to the bathroom regularly. ALWAYS looking 3 months pregnant and stomach was extremely hard. Those are noticeable signs. I did some research and reached out to IU health gastroenterology, the BIGGEST mistake I have ever made when it comes to my health. Late 2021, I had an appointment with Dr. Boyent, the staff and the doctor were the worst, rude, and never returned my phone calls. IF I did recieve a phone call or email extremely late and rude! This doctor had me on senokot. You are NOT to be taking it regularly like this doctor had me take it. I had tried many, and I mean many types of laxatives, acid reflux medications because I was told I had IBS-C. I was under the impression I had IBS-C, BUT also SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial overgrowth) I went to Indiana Gastroenterology in the Indianapolis/Greenwood area in early 2022, where I had a doctor doing my colonscopy and endoscopy. The doctor literally yelled at my mom because I was SCARING the inside of the colon! The doctor didn't understand why such a young age of 25 I was taking so many! 2 a day for at least 5 months straight. An IU health DOCTOR told me to take this, and I have another doctor telling/yelling my mom that I am SCARING my colon and insides from taking this senokot medication. I don't believe the doctor was mad but just floored another professional would tell a patient to take this many with the risks and not tell the patient. Once I switched to Indiana Gastroenterology in the Indianapolis/Greenwood area, I was finding out a lot of information about SIBO. SIBO is a serious infection, and I could have died from it. Thankfully, after taking 3 of the same antibiotics and a medication called motegrity (helps with regularity BUT is not a laxative), I am finally out of the woods of SIBO. With SIBO, it can always come back, I know I can trust Indiana Gastroenterology completely. Not to mention, I was scared because I didn't understand what was going on inside me. Thankfully indiana gastroenterology explained to me fully about all the questions my mom and I had. ALWAYS write down your symptoms and times they are happening. Any other information from other doctors. 2023 Come to find out, I have a lazy colon and not IBS-C. I do have bad acid reflux, but it is also now being controlled with proper medication. 2023-2024 I get regular checks with Indiana Gastroenterology because of how SERIOUS SIBO is and can always come back. I get all my medications from them I have about 4 medications. Also meijers pharmacy is the best place to get odd prescriptions such as SIBO meds. FYI! I have no faith in IU HEALTH when it comes to health anymore."

"I have had several colonoscopies over the years and have never come to before during the procedure. I woke up about 3 times during the procedure. No anesthesiologist either. They are really difficult to get a hold of and even though they use the IU Health logo, none of their services are available using IU Health resources. Even their billing is outside of IU resources. I will NEVER use them again. I experienced negligence, pain, and suffering."

"Have been a patient since 2018. Everything was great til this past year. Insurance company needs more info from Dr. before filling new prescription. I have called every other week for months and left messages with Dr. Boyntons nurse with no return call. Even called reception and voiced my disappointment.. they sent a message to the nurse who replied she would call back. That was a month ago. This last time I left a message I even left my husband's phone number just in case they weren't getting through to my phone for some reason. Am now looking for a new GI. Been long enough I can just start over if it'll get me the care I need."

"Nurse nearly stabbed me to death trying to start an IV. Also, nurse could not pronounce or understand the two commonly prescribed medications that I take. I was starting to suspect that she had either (a) some cognitive issue, or (b) was under the influence. Definitely did not inspire confidence. Finally, the prep solution they prescribed (a laxative, SupRep) costs $350. The pharmacist contacted them and they prescribed a substitute, NuLytely, which did not work (I took it as prescribed). The procedure (colonoscopy) could not be performed so I had to reschedule. At this point, I have not eaten anything for six days, I am tired, dehydrated, sleep deprived, with a sore arm, and without much confidence in my next colonoscopy. I think I’ll just opt out of any future colonoscopy procedures and take my chances with colon cancer. This experience was miserable and as difficult as possible."

"I had my first endoscopy here this morning. The staff was very friendly and took the extra time and care to make sure that I was comfortable and knowledgeable of the upcoming procedure. Jodi was the nurse who helped prepare me and Crystal was the nurse who helped me during the procedure. I am very happy with my visit and came home without the typical soreness that I was warned I would have. The staff here are wonderful and I am very thankful to them for making this an easy experience for me."
