Reviews of The Annex of Columbus
"I want to say this apartment complex notorious not solving any issues. There is always going to be noise, screaming, intoxicated students running down hallways, and blaring music. I wanted to live here until my friends who currently do showed me the reality of it! I want to warn anyone else who may think about it! Not recommended to live here at all!!"
"I have a son that live there and the bullies are real my son is very upset and the staff is making it worst I let my son handle his business cause he is grown and he don’t want me to get involve but it’s to late I’m involve if that young man keep calling my son names and doing stupid stuff in a racial way and the staff he complains to not helping my son he work and going to school he is barely there the problem is out of control and his hands he sleep in his car because of this 24 year old guy pressuring him my son trying to get help I don’t want anything to happen to him my son because I don’t know were the other guy is going with this nobody should have to feel uncomfortable were they live at."
"I've never left a google review before but my awful experience at the Annex and interactions with the housing company have inspired me. The Annex of Columbus, to their credit has very affordable housing. With that being said, the units are priced accordingly with extremely small kitchens and no amenities. Furthermore the apartment is not well kept and often quite dirty. Much more importantly, the housing company (Granite) is very sleezy. My friends and I who lived there all did not receive our security deposits back even though we did nothing to damage the apartment. They seem to find B.S excuses for why they get to keep your money. In fact, Granite took all of my security deposit and charged me an extra $200 because they had to remove hooks from my room. This was completely absurd because the hooks were there when I moved in (someone did this before me). These hooks looked to be professionally installed and thus I did not mention them to granite as they looked as though they should be there. Instead of understanding my point and realizing they should've noticed this while cleaning the unit and repainting prior to me moving in, they instead passed the buck to me to make up for their incompetence as a land lord. If you need affordable housing in Columbus, feel free to try them out, but ensure you take pictures of every square inch of your apartment and notify them immediately because they are very unforgiving and un reasonable."
"I spent the summer of 2018 here while I was interning at Cummins. Upon arrival at my apartment, I noticed quite a bit of markings on the walls, the carpet was very dirty, and my desk chair was broken. Annoyed, I went into the office to particularly complain about the desk chair. I was basically told 'too bad' and that there was nothing they could do since new furniture wouldn't be ordered until the new leases began. I was promised I would not be charged for these damages since they were obviously done by the former resident (I'm not sure how he wasn't charged for the walls or carpet?) I even got the correct shade of paint and performed touch ups myself! However, after I completed my internship and came back to school I received over $300 in damages and fines - including the broken desk chair ($80), paint touch ups ($75), and carpet cleaning ($20). After speaking with the other residents I knew at the Annex, we realized that they actually charged almost all of us with these incredibly unfair damage fees, obviously as a way to avoid paying back security deposits. The apartments themselves are also not in great shape. I spent about a week unable to use my bathroom because a pipe had burst in the apartment above and was leaking all over the bathroom! TLDR: Apartments not in great shape. Marked walls, dirty carpet etc. Pipe burst in ceiling and wasn't fixed for about a week and a half. Super sensitive smoke detectors that prevent you from cooking. Staff are lazy, and put false damage fees on your account to avoid paying back security deposits. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND."
"If you care about the luxury of your apartment and beautiful location find somewhere else - for the price there are many better alternatives. If you just want the social scene this is a great place for you - there is no better social scene than here. The Annex is great for the student scene. I am a Cummins intern and it is fun to get to be around all the other interns here. However, the layout of the apartment is bad. The furniture is VERY cheap. There is a TV stand but no TV. Not many students have TVs. I'd expect the place to be better furnished for the price they demand. Also the kitchen has no space. There are no cabinets under the sink. There are 4 half sized cupboards and 2 smaller cupboards - one being unusable above the fridge. There is not enough space for dishes and only space for a couple days worth of food. There are only 2 half sized drawers so find another place to put your silverware - ours is on top of our microwave. Also there are 4 smoke detectors in the tiny apartment and they are all connected to a blaring fire alarm that can be heard 2-4 apartments over and anyone outside (You've never heard something this loud - I thought the fire department was on their way the first time it went off). One of the detectors is right above the stove - ours goes off about twice a week with no fires just a tiny bit of smoke. Lastly, the location is ugly, Indiana is a beautiful place but this apartment is located next to an airport. Asphalt and an empty field is your best view."
