"The front office was friendly and helpful when moving in, but that ended the moment you signed the lease. From then on it becomes clear you are nothing more than a number on a spreadsheet and they will find any excuse to charge you money. It starts off with the "Valet" Trash collection service that they charge you 25 dollars a month for, and you can't opt out. And half the time it isn't picked up on the scheduled day. Then, the first time my lease was up for renewal, they decide to raise the rent by about 10 percent. When I asked if that can be negotiated, they said it can not. A few days after I signed to renew, I found out that they do negotiate with other tenants, and the front office had just LIED to my face to trick me into signing a higher lease. (If you decide to renew your lease, don't talk to the main people in the front office. Talk to the property manager.) One month after having been on time paying for 2 years, I was a day late paying rent due to being out of town for a funeral, and promptly was threatened with eviction and forced to pay a large fine. Upon moving out, they find other excuses to charge you crazy fees and fines just to milk every last dollar out of you. There is regularly loud noises from drunk people walking home at night, and trash people leave around. The dumpster is often overflowing, probably a result of the mandatory valet trash not getting collected. The apartments are not well-sealed and insulated, so your winter heating bill is huge and you get bugs in the summer. Also, half the time you call to make a maintenance request, it never gets filed and you have to make the request several times. The only decent place about this place is the location and the friendly (albeit understaffed) maintenance workers. All I can say is, there are better places in Broad Ripple to live. The location here is not worth being treated like an ATM by a company that will lie and take advantage of you. If you can avoid it, don't live here."
"The maintenance staff is great, best part about living here, however, it is counteracted by the fact that I only get about 30% of the packages that I try to get delivered to my apartment. Because I live in the Monon Place II and not a townhome, I have a mailroom that I must go to get my packages. Which would be fine, if the room where the packages should be actually got delivered. When I tell you I have COMBED over this room multiple times to just not even have my package in there, I was finally fed up with this process and went to the leasing office to complain. The office staff lady said that "the mailroom is not our responsibility and we provide that as a courtesy to you. I live here too and I have the same problems you do, so I just get it delivered to my boyfriend's house." I'm like alright, cool, I can't even get my packages delivered to my own address. I really enjoy the part where she said she didn't even get her packages delivered to her when she is someone that can actually do something about it. I felt like that was ridiculous and unprofessional. Also, whomever decided a gravel dog park was a good idea should probably take another job. When people decide not to clean up, then it just becomes a giant litter box. Astroturf please, I pay enough for that level of quality. I will not be renewing my lease here. It is overpriced for what you get."
"Not worth your time or money. Rented a 3 bed 2.5 bath apartment at Monon Place for 8 months. Had problems from the first day of the lease. Air conditioning was out and the apartment was very dirty (mold in the washer, exploded Pepsi left in the freezer, toilets were gross). We were told that Monon Place would pro-rate our rent for each day the air conditioning was out, but when our bill came the next month we were charged full. After talking with the staff, they only gave us $100 off even though they remembered agreeing to pro-rate the rent. Our apartment also had a mice problem as the apartment wasn't properly sealed. After our lease ended and we received a full deposit refund, Monon Place sent my roommates and I to debt collections over "unpaid utility bills." However, if this was the case Monon Place would've violated the Utility Agreement as any unpaid utility bills should've been deducted from the deposit refund. It took lots of phone calls, emails, and months for Monon Place to finally realize they made a mistake and drop the collections case as we did not owe them anything. Again, renting an apartment from this company is not worth your time or money."
"The apartments are fairly nice from those that I’ve been in. Unlike some of the surrounding apartment Monon Place doesn’t seem to have near as much trouble with trash and unkept areas. As far as apartment complexes go I think it’s pretty good."
"I lived there for 3 years and the office staff were unfriendly, poorly communicative, and overall unresponsive. The bathroom ceiling in our apartment leaked for essentially the entire 3 years, leaving puddles on the floor, and chipping of chunks in the drywall. After some leaks, you could literally stick your finger through the hole in the ceiling. All maintenance ever did was put "band-aid" solutions that never actually solved the problem. Near the end of our lease, after we had already given them notice that we were not renewing our lease, they stated that they were going to be installing plumbing necessary for a washer and dryer to go into (appliances that we never had in the 3 years of living there). We asked if they could wait to do this big construction until after we left, but no they couldn't. I came home from work with my bedroom a disaster. I attached pictures below. This is how the contractors and lead maintenance man left my bedroom after one day's worth of work. This was work done without our consent and without us being told what was going to happen. We were told in preparation for this work to clear out half the closet, so that is exactly what my roommate and I did. However, they ended up doing construction in my bedroom, touched and dirtied my personal items, including my bed, that make it an unlivable space. They did not move any of my furniture back and it was all done without our knowledge. This is just one HUGE example of the kind of professionalism and respect this apartment complex has for their residents."
