"After dealing with almost a decade of my previous Doctors not listening to my concerns about my health I finally found Staci Thompson. Within my first month of seeing her she had me in surgery because I had a failing organ that my previous Dr kept telling me was "all in my head". Since then she has been dedicated to helping me fix the last almost decade of being ignored and addressing chronic conditions with both my physical and mental health. I've never felt more respected and understood by a doctor since I was a young child. The staff and lab techs are also really wonderful people that when showed respect will show it in tenfolds over. They have also been extremely accommodating on paying bills off and having issues with insurance."
"Disappointed, I have been with AHN for 8 plus years..Dr. Witt left, then I was put with Lashelle which I loved but then she left and I was put with Dr. Elango, first appointment was a red flag, nurses yelling at an older couple that they couldn't be seen because they were 5 minutes late. Then during our visit she was so "robotic" and made me feel like my narcolepsy medication was a hassle for her to fill and questioned me like a drug addict. Missed an appt with her due to a family death and she put a note in my chart to not schedule with her again. There must be a reason why there is a high turnover for providers at AHN. Look elsewhere for primary care."
"Nursing staff is extremely unprofessional and rude. I have been a patient under Dr. Lockwood for most of my life. 20+ years and have never been treated as poorly as yesterday. Had an appointment for 5pm with Dr. LaShelle Anderson, that was scheduled a month ago. They waited until yesterday at 3:45pm to call me and say that the last appointments are for 4pm and I’d need to reschedule. Then, blamed me for being upset that they put me in an appointment slot that didn’t exist. Said I’d call back. When I did, sat on hold for 13 minutes. Then was told they had no further availability until the end of August. Told them that 5 of my medications rely on this appointment. Put me on hold for another 3 minutes. When the nurse came back I asked the nurse if she could just check when my scripts expire since I cannot get an appointment. She had the audacity to tell me, “I’ll need you to wait, I need to take a breather.” Excuse me? Put me on hold again for another 3 minutes or so. When she came back, she asked if I was there, I said, “yeah” and proceeded to tell me how this was my fault and her supervisor’s fault and that I am not allowed to get an attitude with her. So I demanded to talk to her supervisor. Once talking with her, they rescheduled me for 5pm virtually, even though I explained I needed to be seen in person. So 5pm comes around and I’m sitting in the virtual waiting room, no one comes in. By 5:35pm still no one has come in to even greet me so I hang up. Then they send me a text notification asking to reschedule me today when I work. So I had no choice but to decline. I called back and they tell me, she was there and could hear you. Really? because the screen sat black with the notice saying “someone will be in momentarily” and my end was muted for the better part of 20 minutes while I drove home. Tell me again where she “showed up” and “was there”. They ended up having to schedule me for the end of August. Essentially, this doctors office and their staff don’t care about you at all. They let their employees treat you like trash and say whatever they want to you without offering to try and fix it at all. It’s disgusting and unnecessary especially when the initial issue is caused by them to begin with. I want to feel comfortable at a doctor’s office, not as if my existence is a burden just because I’m having health complications. Not one sorry was given from Dr. LaShelle or the nurse that treated me like dirt. Will be looking for a new provider. UPDATE: I was finally seen by Dr. LaShelle Anderson today. Was given an apology about what happened. She informed that she was in the video call and described what she saw, so I’m assuming our connection was just bad. She also informed me that they will do what they can to work towards improving the community experience and work towards keeping their patients comfortable while providing proper care and support. However, I’m still bothered by the situation. I appreciate that I was given an apology for how poorly I was treated by the receptionist/nurse previously, but my initial review with a one star will stay the same and stay up."
"I have been a patient of Dr Maus for 39 years and am sad that he is retiring as I have no idea who I will see now. He has always given excellent care to our family. I too have noticed the downward slide of the overall office. The employees at the front desk are not the friendliest. I understand if you don’t like your employer but be courteous and helpful to the patients. The imaging department is now being closed for some reason which I can only assume is a cost saving move. And now today my daughter had an appointment with a NP and drove down from Chicago only to find out the NP is no longer there and her appointment had been canceled. She was told they could not fit her in with anyone else today. No notice was sent to her that this appointment had been canceled. Hopefully changes can be made to restore this office to its previous high ratings and standards."
"I had to wait two weeks to be accepted as a new patient, at which point I was finally allowed to make an appointment to see the doctor. I suffered with an infection for that whole time. The automated system is also kind of annoying. That being said, I LOVED Dr. Witt and his nurse, Jill! I really hate going to doctors, normally. Nothing personal about the people that have seen me over the years, I just hate being so...exposed?? These two were very laid back, but also attentive. Dr. Witt asked if I had any concerns or anything, and saw me hesitate as I searched for my phone which had a list of things I wanted to discuss - he was eager to hand me my phone and let me cover all the items on my list. Also, there is an issue I have that I guess the nurse had never seen before, or at least, didn't know the treatment for, and the Doctor explained about the condition and treatment to both of us at the same time. I thought that was very insightful and it was great seeing that he treated his nurse with respect and wasn't patronizing in the least (to either of us). The receptionists were all friendly except at the lab - barely received a grunt from that one. But everyone has an off day."
