"Lived here for 3 years. There are definitely pros and cons. Pros Wonderful office staff. Very friendly and easy to work with. The apartments are very good size for what you pay for. Maintenance my time there was prompt. And I had very few maintenance needs. Cons The walls are thin! I had great neighbors my first year, but the last 2 years noisy neighbors became a huge issue. The office did sympathize but there wasn’t much that could be done. Overall: I would recommend Chauncey Village to others, but the thin walls is something to keep in mind!"
"Have had constant internet issues, appliance issues and other concerns. Stolen laundry I will not include as its not directly their fault. Issues aren't addressed well and hours are abysmal at best for the pool and club house. I wouldn't mind all of the small downsides if they kept up with maintenance. I'm about to buy my own oven to put in the apartment and toss the supplied one out if they "can't get to it" soon."
"I love living here. My loft apartment is super cute and unique! I feel safe, it's clean, quiet and I love the area. Breann in the office is helpful and friendly, and the maintenance staff takes great care of the property and are very quick to address any maintenance requests. I recommend Chauncey Village."
"Lived here for the past three years. Pros: Cheap rent - $630 to $650 for a 2-bedroom unit. Quiet neighborhood. Most maintenance requests fixed the next day. Helpful staff. Cons: Prices seem to be increasing about 3% per year. Counterpoints to other reviewers: Jennifer is not Hitler. If some of your property was stolen, what exactly do you expect Jennifer to do about it? You're complaining that she's not taking action. But what options does she actually have? Start dusting for fingerprints in your shed? Reinforce the walls with steel and concrete? If your neighbor’s kids are frequently vandalizing vehicles or dealing drugs in the open, then report it to the legal authority for dealing with crime. That system is the police department. It’s not Jennifer. Why is the pool restricted after 8:00? Because it’s dark outside. Any 5 year old kid can grab the pool access key from their parent’s desk, open the gate, and fall in the pool. If no one saw that happen, the kid would drown. Besides the tragedy of a child dying, there would be people leaving online reviews about how Jennifer is a monster for leaving the pool open after dark. She would lose her job. The apartments would lose many of their families with small children. And they would probably get sued for $10 million dollars and Chauncey Village would shut down. That’s why the pool is restricted after 8:00. All of the rules exist for practical reasons. Not because Jennifer wants your life to be miserable. You’re not happy about unit inspections? If what you’re saying is true, then some of the other residents have drugs and stolen property in their units. Maybe management is conducting more inspections because they are responding to your complaints. Update 4/22/17 Got a job in Fort Wayne and moving there this week. Thought I would mention a few more things as I'm going. First, a previous version of my review said that rental prices were increasing at 5% per year. As I was going through my old lease paperwork, I realized that I originally had a promotional discount applied to my rent. That discount expired after the first year, which is why I incorrectly put the number at 5%. The actual number is around 2 - 3%. I'll say 3% to be conservative. Continued counterpoints... One reviewer mentioned the recent bomb threat and that residents were forced to vacate their homes for around 5 hours. Naturally, they also mentioned that Jennifer left everyone to freeze outside in the bitter cold, when she could have simply "opened up the clubhouse so the residents could get warm." That opinion is.. questionable at best. First, the incident occured in April. I haven't looked up the weather history but I doubt it was extremely cold. Second, there is a 24-hour convenience store located about 150 yards away. People have legs. The problem is solvable. Third, let's talk about the suggestion of "opening up the clubhouse." Every resident has access to two buildings - one is their apartment, the other is the laundry room. And the laundry room happens to be located in the first floor of the clubhouse. So if a resident wanted to place a bomb somewhere in the complex, they could have easily chosen the laundry room. Considering that the police found a functional bomb, I would say that Jennifer made the right decision to keep the clubhouse locked for the day. Last thing. Another reviewer claimed to spend $300/month in the winter for electric bills. I've lived here for three years. I have a 1000 sq ft apartment that I keep at 72 degrees year-round. Two years ago, during an extremely cold January, my electric bill was $180. That includes the use of appliances, lights, HVAC, electronics, hot water, etc..."
