Reviews of Parkview Whitley Hospital
"Do not go to their ER. I went in due to sever pain and was not able to sleep for 48 hours because of it. I went into their ER to get help and was asking for an Emergency MRI and possible back surgery. Their Doctor told me that there was nothing they could do and sent me out without any help or pain medication what so ever. I left in the same amount of pain as when I arrived. Then they sent me a Bill that was over $2,000 without any medical care or help what so ever. Sure enough after about 1 to 2 weeks went into get an MRI and I have a ruptured disc that was pressing on my L1 nerve root and am I now scheduled for surgery. Do not go to this price gouging uncaring facility. $2,000 just to go in and be told no, not going to help you. Ridiculous."
"My experience started out well. The doctor and the nurse were attentive. They performed some test and found out I was extremely dehydrated and so I was given an IV to increase my fluid and two horrible potassium pills. The doctor stated that once I was finished with the IV bag I could be released to go home. I would like to point out that I have crohns disease for 30 plus years and have had a lot of my intestines and colon removed so my body doesn't absorb IV fluids or pills like normal individuals and yes I shared this information. However not 10 minutes later the nurse comes in and says to me that I have 1/3 of the bag left and could leave now if I wanted. What??? I said no I need all of it. I came in on an EMS stretcher because I couldn't walk and she asks me if I needed a wheelchair or could I walk.???? That's crazy. I'm sorry to take up your time. But I didn't plan on getting sick. What started out to be a good experience ended up being a bad one. Thank you for your time."
"The er team on Thursday was on point..my mother came in getting sick, found she had a kidney stone and was severely dehydrated. They set her up and constantly checked on her and made her comfortable. Dr's all talked with me and we decided a transport to pmrc, for the urology dept there. I was extremely impressed with the professionalism, making sure mom was comfortable and made her feel like a queen. Keep up the awesome work."
"DO NOT GO HERE. I got charged $1,819 dollars for less than 5 minutes of the doctor's time, a bandaid, and 1 antibiotic pill. Which they charged 5x what a FOR PROFIT pharmacy charges for the pill. The staff were rude, you're treated as an inconvenience. ( If I was doing undercover boss, I would have fired several of them on the spot. Their attitudes were absolutely unacceptable) This is the EXACT reason there is over $195 BILLION in medical debt, and the #1 debt for Americans is medical bills. It's an overpriced bandaid station. You get better treatment at a walk-in clinic in Fort wayne than you do the emergency room in Columbia city. I tried to dispute the bill due to the ABSURD amount. They said they did an "internal audit" on it, and it came back that everything was "billed appropriately." This is pure corruption and taking advantage of people. I'm not exaggerating. A bandaid and 1 pill cost $1,819 dollars. Drive to Fort wayne!! If your condition is serious, they are just going to drive you to Fort wayne anyway and charge you thousands and thousands of dollars for the ambulance ride. I honestly don't know how these people sleep at night. I went to a PARKVIEW walk-in clinic in Fort wayne for the exact same thing, a bandaid and an antibiotic prescription. The bill was $130 dollars. & I got treated better at the walk-in clinic. The only difference was the name out front and the way the staff treated me. Yet the billed difference was $1,689 dollars"
