Reviews of Franciscan Health Indianapolis
"Came to see a family member off for their surgery and instantly the RAGING Karen receptionist in outpatient started in speaking to like a criminal, using verbiage that was totally inappropriate and disrespectful, telling me to go “disappear” elsewhere to wait. Her personality and attitude, my advice is to not look both ways before crossing the street…and the kicker of this visit all within 15 minutes the cafe only takes cash, so much for basic technology in 2024. The so called “lounge” just a handful of sticky tables, dirty chairs, and no power outlets for any devices. Hope your loved one isn’t in surgery long, otherwise you need to pack a bag with battery packs."
"I had both a great and horrible experience all in one stay. I recently had ACDF spinal surgery. The doctor was amazing and I’ve definitely left good reviews for him. The preop staff was fantastic. I also had a good experience with the staff directly after surgery. About 4 hours post op I was finally given a room for my overnight stay. This is where the horrible part started. Firstly they decided oral pain medicine was a good route knowing that this type of surgery leaves you with difficulty swallowing. I would press the call light and wait for an hour after pain meds were due before someone would finally come to my room. My husband had to help unplug me from everything several times and help me to the bathroom although I was not supposed to be up on my own and had yet to be given a neck brace. They had three different people poke me 8 times to get an iv in order to provide fluids and antibiotics but for some reason did not provide my pain medication that way. I’ve actually known a few others who have had this same surgery and were put on a pain pump while in the hospital. One of the nurses was extremely rude and tried to gas light me in front of another nurse once I had broken down crying. At that point I would have been better off and more comfortable at home with oral antibiotics. I asked for a patient advocate and was never sent one to speak with. This was my 13th surgery but only my second one with this hospital and it was my absolute worst experience. They gave me better treatment and medication after my gallbladder removal than they did with a spinal surgery."
"Jan 2nd at like 3am I had to have my girlfriend and her son take me here as I was so dehydrated and sick I couldn't drive. Get there were the only ones there and still takes 45 minutes to get a room. We were told she couldn't bring him back with her and he had to wait alone in the car (he's 3) so she had to go sit with him in the car the whole time. Fine, whatever. Eventually, the nurse comes in and gives me ivs and leaves... no pillow, no way to adjust the bed, just leaves, I tried calling for help... no one came, I had no remote on my bed besides the alarm way behind, so I had to reach (with ivs in my arms) behind me to hit the button, only THEN did someone come and offer me a pillow, still no way to adjust the bed. Finally got a bit of sleep then after about 2 hours he had me take a small sip of sprite, I didn't throw it up (I wasn't moving so) and he gave me papers and told me to go home. Got lost on the way out (pretty sure I went out the employee entrance) got back into the car where my girlfriend and her son were waiting, and immediately threw up again all the liquids I had been given through ivs. They did prescribe Zofran, which did help, but I could have just called my primary doctor to have that called into the pharmacy and taken it. We've taken my girlfriends son here a few times, and they don't address any concerns that we have... ever since covid, it seems all they want to do is get you out of there... will be going to take the slightly longer drive and going to community from now on!!!!"
"I had 2 surgeries done at Franciscan. The nurses and care team was great from the time I walked in the door. All of the nursing and support staff were so kind and caring. Not one bad one the entire time. I drive over an hour in what I hoped would be even average care. What I received exceeded my expectations. It was so nice to have my faith restored in the medical care available to me in this area. I will drive again to Franciscan for any services."
"I cant say enough good things about my experience . Everyone was so nice and helpful. Nurses went way and beyond with my care before and after surgery. Dr Suozzi is a excellent surgeon. Explains everything so his patients understands. The people as u walk in the door are very helpful in finding where u need to go. I would definitely refer my family and friends to consider using this hospital and their doctors."
