Reviews of Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital
"Horrible night, 5 star hospital experience. I came in after work on a Sunday evening and fully expected to be stuck there for hours and I was worried I would be treated passively because I was there for tooth pain. I have not been in this much pain since I had my child and decided to see if there was any way I could be helped until I could make it to the dentist in a few days. Reception was effecient and kind and the waiting area was a little scary (being an ER and all) and clean. They saw me in less than an hour and the nursing staff was extremely kind and sympathetic. The doctor was professional, thorough and kind. There was a "difficult" patient behind the curtain next to me. Despite being antagonistic to all of the staff he encountered they remained calm, patient and took him seriously during what was surely a trying experience for them. They were not able to do anything significant for me because hospitals do not work on teeth but they were able to get my pain under control for the evening and the following day until I could be seen by a dentist. They also were contentious of the serious nature of pain medication and offered non narcotic medicine as well. I appreciated having the option since I am a caregiver and have a career that requires clear thinking. Going to the hospital is never "great" but I was cared for, treated respectfully and in and out which is 5 stars for an ER."
"Super patient, kind, helpful, and efficient. Went in with emergency and was freaking out and they took good care of me and my family even though I was very impatient with them. So thankful. Rooms very clean, staff caring, doctors and nurses listened to all the issues and were respectful. Highly recommend this hospital."
"I went to this ER on New Year's Eve around 7am and I have to say it was one of the most dehumanizing experiences of my entire life. From the ambulance staff just giving up on trying to put an IV in after one try to no one from the intake desk all the way to the nurses and doctors taking me seriously, I felt demeaned the entire time. I went to the ER because I was having severe chest pains, tingling in my hands and feet, sweats and chills, dizziness and diarrhea. From the very start they refused to acknowledge that I might have a problem other than anxiety--they just decided I was having an anxiety attack and did not listen to me at all when I tried to explain to them that I have had anxiety for 20 years and I know what an anxiety attack feels like, and this was not it. The nurse who discharged me was very condescending, she said things like "You're 36, you're only just stepping out into the world, it's normal to be anxious", talking to me like I'm a child when I was in fact older than her, it's just one example of the demeaning way I was treated the entire time I was there. No one listened to me, and it is 24 hours later and I am still having the chest pain and tingling in my hands and feet. Oh, not to mention that this is the first and only time in my life that not only could the EMT not put the IV in, the nurse at the ER caused my vein to blow when she tried to insert it in my right arm so they had to put it in my hand instead. Then they basically chased me out of there as fast as they could saying nothing was wrong with me and to leave. Will never be going to this ER again. It's experiences like this that make me never want to go to the doctor for any problems, because they never take their patients seriously and they don't care about them at all. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Absolute joke."
"* Pros: I tend to use this as my "go to" hospital; I think I've been treated extremely well by the various branches and services of this hospital. * Cons: It's extremely possible that I don't know what I'm talking about, with my healthcare or my life."
