Reviews of OrthoIndy Hospital Main
"Had surgery there last week. Dr. Dicke was phenomenal, nursing staff was so friendly. Thankful for them fixing me up!"
"Dr.McMains and his PA Dr. Alex was amazing. I had a ADR (artifical disc replacement), during my time in surgery dept all staff was amazing, helpful and took time to listen and attended to my needs and stress. During my after care followups the nurses and doctors were great at listening and caring for me. They took time to listen, care and find ways to help cope with the nerve and muscle pain! 100% recommend all surgeries and care to be done here! I've seen 2 doctors and had multiple surgeries and has always been best care given!!"
"I called and waited 10 minutes for someone to answer, the lady comes on and says her name. That's all. I said hello, and she asked what do you need? I asked to check availability to see a doctor about my hip, and before I could finish my sentence, she actually asked... what kind of hip? REALLY?? I simply replied a human hip, and she proceeds to tell me I am not understanding. I said, I am sorry ma'am, but this conversation is hurting more than. My hip is. I will call IU Health."
"Review of Ortho Indy and Drs. Pomeroy and Huler I decided at the last minute not to have my hip replacements with Ortho Indy. Everyone, from the lowest phone answerer to the highest doctor and all in between– all the same – very efficient, chop, chop, chop move this along. I could not get questions answered, did not feel adequately prepared, felt pushed to just do it and soon. Twice people did not listen to what I said about important questions or issues. I had read all the endless material they gave me, and had a list of questions. I live alone and so must think ahead about many possible challenges. The one and only pre-surgery meeting turned out to be only for issues around anesthesia; they refused to address any other questions nor to be sure I’d get them answered somewhere. I told them I had a rash and they said I couldn’t have surgery if I still had it at the time of surgery. They gave me a RX for a yeast infection, though I told them I’d been tested by a gynecologist and it was not a yeast infection. I took their RX but, of course, by the time of surgery I still had the rash. Then they said it wouldn’t matter after all and I could/should have the surgery. I have a curvature in my lower back which already makes sleep difficult. My normal sleep pattern is to curl up, and then turn from side to side. I really wanted to know ahead how to sleep after hip surgery and to practice that. But no way was I going to get ten minutes with a physical therapist before surgery, though I asked everywhere. Finally, Dr. Pomeroy wrote a prescription for Phys Therapy, but the RX was for 8 weeks of strengthening, not one meeting before surgery. I had seen Dr. Huler, a spine specialist, first and he’d been the same – in a hurry to just get things done. I would call the whole enterprise at OrthoIndy “cavalier.” If your body is “normal” this may work fine. If your body or spirit have any special needs, don’t expect attention to anything out of the ordinary. This assembly line moves along!"
"I had minimally invasive spinal fusion back in June 2023 with Dr. Schwartz. Was released from hospital the next day. I can't remember anything from recovery but everyone I can remember was awesome. The nurses up in med/surg, pt, food was great, kitchen staff was great, housekeeping, preoperative nurses, anesthesiologist, I'm confident the staff I can't remember was just as awesome. I highly recommend Orthoindy. 3 months out I feel atleast 75 % improved thus far. Thanks so much to all."
