"If I could give a zero star I would. My son was rushed to the er for an allergic reaction to ibuprofen he had taken for a headache. I will say that the nurses and Dr that initially time were Fantastic they treated him sent him home with a diagnosis of anaphylaxis and the prescriptions prednisone, benadryl, pepcid, and epipens. The very next day he wasn't doing any better even taking his prednisone, and benadryl and even gave him a shot from his epipen. He continued to have hive outbreaks and by 8pm he was having a hard time breathing again so off to the er went went again. He was checked in and taken to a room in a timely manner. When the Dr come in he immediately asked my son what else he had taken to cause this issue making assumptions that my son had taken something to make his condition worse. Keep in mind my son is 17 and literally goes no where he's a home body. My husband told them he hadn't taken anything but what they had given him to take. They decided to admit my son for the night to see how these flare upset come on. They asked his pain level and my son who typically had a very high pain tolerance said his pain was a 9.5. My husband stayed with him and wasn't offered any kind of comfort for the stay no blanket no pillow not even a reclining chair or cot until 6 am when the day time nurse came on her shift and asked if he wanted a recliner. I had a friend reach out to me saying that her mom had the same types of symptoms my son was having and told me to see if they would test him for that as it was rare and if not treated could be deadly. The nurse was fantastic however they didn't even have a Dr in the building or even in indiana instead they had a Dr in Texas and another in California on a tablet through FaceTime diagnosing my son. This Dr swore my son had no hives even though the nurse was saying they are right there u can't see them? To which he answered he didn't see anything my husband suggested the test I told him to request to which the Dr said that's not necessary. They prescribed him yet again prednisone, benadryl and more epipens. When my son got home he took the prednisone and within minutes his conditioned worsened , he started breaking out into hives his eyes started watering and his face turned red. I sent my husband to town to get some oatmeal bath and epsom salt in hopes that would help. He text me suddenly and told me to not let our son take the prednisone anymore because after he took it his condition got worse. my son took a oatmeal bath a bit later followed by a epsom salt bath. The next day his symptoms were less with hive flare upset about every 4 hours until he took his benadryl . By friday he was all but back to himself no hive flare upset and returned to work. upon research I found that unless directed by a Dr prednisone shouldnt be taken if someone has had an allergic reaction to NSAIDS. Essentially I feel like the Dr's didn't take my sons condition seriously and could have potentially killed my son had my husband not caught on to the prednisone making his condition worse my son would most likely not be here. I'm attaching pictures of the hives my son had that the dr swears he couldnt see."
"Don't give any money to this hospital. It really needs to be just a family practice and nothing to do with emergencies because they are not equipped or knowledgeable for anything other than a bandaid. Every local knows this and goes to regional or union in dire situations, cause they're just going to transfer you out anyway and take forever to do it. The ER is an absolute joke. Drive a few extra miles to any other hospital for an emergency. My first experience, I went in for a possible miscarriage. A foreign doctor came into my room, didn't introduce himself, poked around inside me forcefully, then said "looks like you're going to lose this one" then left. I was devastated! The nurse was wonderful and helped me understand, but that doctor needs more than just a good yelling at. The nurses typically are the star of the show, the doctors in the ER are awful humans. I have more than enough stories. I'm not sure how they can even legally operate. However, I can't rate the hospital as a whole due to the ER being trash. I went in for a D&C in the outpatient surgical and the staff in that department are absolutely wonderful. They gave me keepsakes and made sure I was comfortable and expressed their sympathy for my loss. They truly shine in that department, and also in the OB department. I didn't deliver my first child there but every friend that has was treated like royalty. OB AND OUTPATIENT SURGICAL ARE THE TRUE MVP's!"
"If I could give zero stars, I would! This place is a damn quack factory! After sitting there for 2 hours in pain, in the waiting room we left to drive to Terre Haute. As we were leaving multiple employees were standing in the room behind the reception desk talking and joking. They were not concerned with the fact that I could barely walk, only that they needed the paperwork back. I wouldn’t even take my worst enemy to this hospital."
"Very attentive to my needs. Took good care of me. I felt that I was there longer than I should have been but like I said the Dr. Was very thorough and ran a couple of test twice so he could be sure things were OK and I had to wait in between tests and results. All the staff were very nice and helpful!"
"From the ER doctor that was determined to find out what was causing the severe pain in my husband lower chest, shoulder, and back, to the nurses, lab techs, ultrasound techs, CT's , and even housekeeping, A+! Thank you for solving the mystery! Thank you for keeping him as comfortable as possible due to circumstances. I only wish the discharge plan of once we got home was better. His pain was NOT managed and could have been 100% better. He suffered ALL night. We called the next morning (9:45am) for help and went in. The Dr that saw him (@ family practice) told him that pulmonary embolism's do NOT cause pain. Really?? Meanwhile my husband looks like he's having a heat attack. Please, do better sir. Nobody should have to stay at the hospital to manage pain. Meanwhile they did help track down the provider that should have sent those meds 1st thing this morning. Over 20 hours in severe pain is too long. We need to do better. If keeping patients comfortable is a priority there, then be sure that is carried home on the discharge plan."
