Reviews of Advocate Children's Hospital - Oak Lawn
"It took me a while to write this review because I didn’t want to say anything but I regret not speaking up. I felt I was Not treated fairly during my daughters overnight stay. The emergency was amazing that’s the reason I continue to come back to this hospital. When we was told we was going be admitted I was nervous but felt like I was In good hands. When walking into the children hospital section It was a desk with a nurse .. I spoke and tried to greet her and was ignored but she spoke to the nurse that transported me there ( umm very rude and odd) secondly they put us in the smallest room and we had a tv that was barely watchable. The tvs in the emergency room was more bigger than the one I had. Again I understand it’s not a forever stay but my mom works for a hospital and said oh they gave you a low income room and I knew What she meant after that! I’m giving 3 stars because the night nurse and cna made me feel so comfortable they was amazing very happy and I appreciate them for that. What made me the most upset was the morning nurse ! She would not allow me to order breakfast or lunch ??? I stayed At U Chicago, Rush , and Northwestern where they give you a menu to order food and drink during our stay. She would not allow me to do it at all saying she would order me something !? Like excuse me I’m a adult and I know what my daughter and me like. She brought back something my daughter wouldn’t eat and I was Allergic to! I was ready to go because I’m sure my insurance pays for what we ordered why was I slaved To eat something I didn't Want to but was told I couldn’t leave the room because my daughter was sick with Covid. I felt The Night cna and nurse and the Cna who was there during discharge treated me nice because I was Colored like them but it was a rude snobby “ ugh I have To take care of them “ vibe from the nurses who weren’t like me and for that reason I’ll never return to stay if it’s a option I’ll ask to be transferred to another hospital but I’ll never return to stay. The emergency room was the only reason I came But I refuse To grow older and not speak up or let someone know what’s going on in the hospital. The charge nurse did come in to see how my experience was and I appreciate that but it’s odd how the nurse who made me eat what she ordered me came in trying to cover what she was doing and that point I felt Uncomfortable even more ."
"I never had any concerns regarding children's hospital PICU. My son was on the 3rd and 4th floor in past and was always taken care of with high professionalism. I could not have asked God for better care and not be thankful for all and their dedicated professionalism at best. Dr Coates and team, Rajii and team, Dr Fossee and team, Dr Kawadry, Dr Roge and team and Dr Aljadeff and team in Park Ridge. Amazing skilled highly professional sympathic people we could ever ask for. New update: Just want to update the Hospital outpatient center. My son went through outpatient surgery with amazing dr and surgeon Dr Mark Fassee. I just want to advise that, we would have very hard time proceeding with other urologist. We put up our trust and our child in Dr Fossee's hands, and we were not wrong. Amazing, skilled professional, highly educated and gifted to his job. Very cosmetic professionalism at highest level. Please recognize with big award, since our job was not only emotional challenge but very unknown situation. Dr, I know that I already thanked , but cant hold and not extend a massive, Thank You. Mentioning your dedication, professionalism, and compassion have truly made a big difference in my life. Daniel is doing great at home with post surgery. No issues. The outpatient staff did amazing job. From the moment I walked through the doors, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism that set the tone for the exceptional care that followed. Check in was very easy. Nurses greed my child with warmness. We also receive special care and great comfort from the staff members. I also want to Thank you all , for the reason that my son's surgery went very well. I received system txt msges, this made my life very at comfort at the waiting time. This means alot to us as parents. Thank you for amazing technology. and to the staff from operating room. It is very challenging for a mom to have a big trust to hand your child in someones hands. I just want to recognize you all that You did amazing!! As farest most amazing than ever before. The nurses were very nice, very carying and very polite to me as mom, and most importantly to my son. The situation during the waiting time made me feel to be very at peace, and comfortable. Means alot to us as parents to receive such as amazing care❤️Thank you all for your amazing profesionalism. God bless. In God, we trust amen. Sincerely,Mom"
"My 5 year old nephew was admitted January 20, 2024 and diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease. This disease is not transmittable nor from genetics, but treatable. It mostly affects children under 6 years out of nowhere. The care, education, and communication of Christ Children Hospital nurses and doctors was beyond outstanding. They kept us informed of his treatment. Thank you for caring."
"My daughter was a patient due to a very serious surgical procedure. There are no words to express my gratitude for the care she (we) received. From pre-op check-in, surgery waiting lounge, PICU and the children’s floor. Her surgeon’s, nurses and all support staff were excellent. They made an otherwise scary journey much easier to manage."
"Beautiful hospital. Not familiar with adult hospital but hope was phenomenal. The environment and the staff get all the stars. My 10 yr old and 6 yr old could not visit their baby brother which sucked bc husband and I had to do multiple 40 min drives there and back to take care of all our children which was an inconvenience but Fortunately we have a strong family unit which even made this possible. If you don't have this and have children under 12, this could be a tough experience. But we managed. So still 5 stars."
