Reviews of The Queen & I Homestead
"Great place to stay for a very long weekend of swim meets. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The hosts are very kind. I loved seeing all the animals and especially having some down time working on my projects at the dining room table. It was wonderful for them to share their beautiful home with us."
"This place was lovely! Very clean, and the owners were so accommodating. We were incredibly impressed with the B&B and are so glad we stayed here. In our opinion, it was way more fun, private, and nicer than staying in a hotel and very reasonable! Thank you again, Hook Family!"
"Pro: Arrived late in the evening with my daughter. The house is beautiful on the inside with a mix of both period specific and modern pieces. Met the host and she was very nice in offering breakfast options in town as (breakfast is not/was not available at the home). The beds were very comfortable and the coffee located on the main floor was a nice touch. I also felt like the price was comparable to a local hotel. Cons: it has a strong odor that one would find in an old house AND a farm house. Think a cigar box and pet smart. I have a pretty strong sense of smell so I typically ignore things like this but my 8 year old daughter mentioned it within 30 seconds of being in the home. In the morning, we met the dog and briefly walked around the property. There are tools laying throughout the yard -an old truck, an RV, weed eaters, and a rake (points up in the yard) are also present outside. I am guessing that they are also breeding dogs there too as there were several contained on the back deck."
"What a wonderful place to stay. Booked for two nights over a weekend, and have zero regrets. Located a few minutes east of downtown Crawfordsville, The Queen and I is essentially a converted farmstead renting out several rooms. You'll be sharing parts of the house with the host family, who are an absolutely lovely couple. Turning off the main road into the driveway you're greeted with chickens and turkeys scampering around the driveway. It's a very serene, private-feeling home, far enough from downtown to feel totally removed but really quite close to any conveniences you might need. Heck, WalMart is about as far as you can get from it but it's still less than a 15 min drive. The house is amazing. Loaded with authentic, vintage furniture, 12ft ceilings, and limitless charm. We booked the Queen's Bedroom, spacious upstairs bedroom with a dedicated (and very large) neighboring bathroom, which had a beautiful claw foot tub and old-timey shower. Upon our arrival, we found the room clean and well prepared, with complimentary water bottles and soaps. Mattress was pretty nice- a dual zone sleep number bed. Downstairs is a shared dining area with full coffee and tea service (Keurig as well), microwave, toaster, and you're allowed space in a fridge to store an extras you need to keep cool. The decor is warm and homey. I slept well! My only nit was that late risers might benefit from curtains with better light blocking ability. But we were up at 6 for a swim meet, so, not a problem for us. Overall a really lovely place to stay. If you're tired of dreary cookie-cutter hotels, this place is 100% worth a visit. I will be back for another stay, without a doubt."
"What a wonderful and welcoming place to stay. My room (The Guest Room) was spotless with great quality bedding and towels. Nice amenities provided like bottled water, iron and ironing board and excellent WiFi. Would certainly recommend!"
