Reviews of Pathways Learning Academy at Northview Church - Binford
"With the horrible news headlines about unsafe childcare I feel it necessary to put this review out. Parent(s) have called CPS in reference to an employee pushing a child. The employee remained employed until a year later was fired for spanking kids. DCS has been involved with this daycare in regards to physical harm my child experienced from another child while teachers and the director did nothing. My child’s paperwork had my name FORGED on a parent permission section. This paperwork also had UNAUTHORIZED and INCORRECT medical information filled out from management. It looked as though management filled in every blank space on my child’s paperwork to fool State at a quick glance. I question the States detailing when inspecting proper paperwork of an establishment. State has be involved in more than routine check in’s due to parent complaints. I do not believe this daycare is a safe environment for children. There are a few great teachers that have given us comfort in staying unfortunately they are not happy. Some have expressed they only stay for the kids sake because they too are concerned for the well being of the kids. With that being said if you come in for a tour and communication is inconsistent, information is not well organized and you sense chaos in the air, I say welcome to Pathways that is a great representation of what you will consistently experience with this daycare. This daycare has been on a downward spiral for the past 1.5-2 years. We have been here for 4 years and once loved it. Unfortunately we got to a point where we did not feel as though our kids were safe at Pathways. We have witnessed first hand through the camera feed negligence from the teachers and unfortunately at our child’s expense. Immediately we contacted management who had ZERO sense of urgency in addressing the situation between the kids and as expected things were escalated and we watched our child get punched in the face and repeatedly in the head with two teachers present but did nothing. This daycare has shown a great deal of negligence with the kids as well as the teachers. The unfortunate scenario of teacher(s) being physically aggressive with the kids have happened and the children getting physical with one another has clearly happened. This to us was a representation of the type of atmosphere Pathways was creating for the kids. Newer “teachers” were cussing casually in front of us parents. No introductions/bios were ever given out on new staff members/teachers for the entire time (4 years) we were here. Literally this place has shown that they will hire ANYONE who passes a basic background check. Inadequate staff, high turn over yet management is enrolling new families. Upper management talks but does not back things up with productive actions that result to positive and efficient changes. Corporate has done nothing! All in all I sincerely do not recommend this daycare for your children. Pathways is consistent with teacher turnover, enrolling families while turnover is high, lack of appropriate training for the staff. We never experienced new teachers shadowing existing teachers for a period of time, or any time at all, before allowing these new faces to be alone with our children. I encourage you to read more specifics from the States’ perspective when it comes to license qualifications. Simply google Paths to Quality and on the state website you can look this place up and read the areas this daycare as been flagged by the state. I’m not sure how they hold a level 4 with Paths to Quality but maybe if you’re considering this place press them on what that means, how they got it and how they maintain it. Get them to set expectations. It won’t be long and you’ll notice they won’t meet those expectations!"
"We sat behind the bus that takes the kids to school at Hawthorne on the east side of Indianapolis and the kids were fighting and hitting each other and finally I had to walk up and knock on the driver window and the bus driver was on her cell. I told her and she said. Ya I just got them..... when I got back into the carThe kids went right back to fighting the whole time we were waiting in line. That guy ever obviously didn't care what her kids were doing and caring more about what was on her cell phone screen.I'm sure your school is great but that driver is not"
"Our child attends here and we love the entire staff! They show so much care towards our child and create a nurturing, engaging environment for her! We could not have imagined a more educational and loving daycare."
"I reached out to Pathways for my 3 year old and found out they offer virtual learning care for school kids. My 1st grader not having the option for in person school needed a safe place to complete virtual school and still be with children and a playground for burning energy. Pathways was a good fit. A safe, clean and fun environment. They especially did a great job in an ever changing situation/world."
"We love our Pathways family! The staff and teachers are so wonderful with our kiddo. They are loving, kind, and attentive. They feel like an extension of our family which is exactly what you want when you're dropping off your kiddo for the day. We started with them right when they opened with our newborn and he's transitioned through a few rooms and loves each one. The teachers have messaged us in the past if he is acting a little off so that we know to keep an eye on him, or if he likes a new food that they offered him so we can make it at home, and keep us in the loop on anything that might be important which we really appreciate. They use the Brightwheel App to keep us informed on anything happening in his day - diaper changes, meals (breakfast, lunch, snack, bottles when he had them in infancy), outfit changes when needed, naps - and they will include videos of him chasing bubbles or pictures of him making art, on the playground, or in the STEAM lab which he LOVES (who doesn't love music, lights, activities)! The menu is extensive and clearly well developed. Our kiddo is being exposed to a wide variety of food which is great! They also use a live streaming video feed so I can check in on our kiddo during the day - I LOVE this feature! I get to see him being snuggled by a teacher, or playing with his friends, or eating at the little tables with his buddies, or just exploring the fun toys and features of the room. During the difficult season of COVID, they took it very seriously by creating safety protocols, creating a drop off/pick up line outside to limit exposure, etc. We felt safe bringing our kiddo despite how scary the situation was and we've been informed every step of the way. We LOVE being a part of this Pathways family and highly recommend them!"
