Reviews of Fire Island Lighthouse
"Beautiful view from the top. Afterwards you can walk to the restaurants and bars in town or walk to the beach. The place is so much better if you bring your bike because you can visit all the little towns there, just be warned that all the restaurant as closed once the summer season is over. If you go in the off season, you can pack a lunch, there are tons of beautiful places to have a picnic. The wild life is beautiful as well. When you walk the trails there are migrating birds and deer all over. Great place to spend the day with the family. Park at Robert Moses field 5 and take the trail to the light house or you can also take the fire island ferry"
"Iconic and historic lighthouse on Fire Island. Parking is available at Field 5 and the lighthouse can be accessed by a ~3/4 mile walk on a boardwalk through the brush. There is a small museum located beneath the lighthouse that describes its history and more. The top of the lighthouse can be accessed by a small fee. There are restrooms available inside the museum. A nearby path can be used to access the beach!"
"What a neat place to visit. Nice walk along boardwalk through sand dunes up to the lighthouse. Small gift shop. Multiple areas to look at in the museum. Paid to go up to the top of the lighthouse. What a view!!! There was a worker, Angela, who spoke with us up at the top and told us all about the light house and the geography of the surrounding area. Every worker was friendly and informative. If you are in town go visit this lighthouse!!!"
"Fire Island Lighthouse is a nice site for a national park. To get to the lighthouse and the beach adjacent to the lighthouse, you do park in Robert Moses State Park Field 5 then walk over. Park a close to the entrance to the park where the road looks back towards Fire Island Inlet Bridge. Then take the boardwalk to get to the lighthouse. The main building houses a small museum which is interesting and the gift shop. Couldn't climb the tower the day we were there but it was still a great esoteric to look at the museum, lighthouse and the Fresnel lenses. Def worth a trip. The rest of the park has to be accessed by ferry across the bay from Bay Shore."
"What an amazing experience. If you are from the South Shore of Lind Island this is a must. Tourists visiting the area should make sure this is on their list. Amazing one of a kind views from a spot we are all familiar with. The staff was informed and extremely friendly and professional. The light was turned off the year I was born and I believe turned back on in the mid eighties at some point. The old dark spooky lighthouse was saved by the work of some locals and looks much better with the lights on."
