Reviews of Harsha Behavioral Center
"Was a patient here. First off way too many people for such a small room. Never enough chairs and staff is always overwhelmed. Second you will never see or be seen a by a doctor or psychiatrist. You’ll see a nurse practitioner who has never been to med school or residency and has no experience in mental health once a day for about 2 minutes. They will threaten you anywhere from staying longer to being paralyzed in a chair for multiple days. Amy Lewis a nurse practitioner here is especially bad. They cannot separate patients who are there voluntarily and detoxing from court ordered violent patients which makes it a dangerous environment. If you care for a loved one go anywhere else"
"I want to start off by saying the care is adequate to average. My loved one was safe and nothing egregious occurred with the care. HOWEVER Everything the staff tells you as a family member is a lie. From admission all the way through discharge, NOTHING you are told is ever accurate or true. She will have her personal belongings in a few hours - took them 4 days and she still didn't get them all. You will receive updates from the care coordinator - 0 updates the entire 7 days You can call for updates anytime you want - nope, you get transferred to a voice-mail of a guy (Ethan) who never calls you back You can call to talk to patient anytime if you have something that needs handled - nope, 0 incoming calls allowed and there is designated phone time each day for only 10 minutes An elaborate schedule was printed out and handed to me about what the patients stay would be like day to day - nope, literally less than half that schedule occurs, 80% of patients stay was just sitting around doing nothing I left messages in person with the front desk 3 times for someone to call me back to address why all these lies had occurred - never received any call backs from anyone There was even more than this from a communication stand point but the take away from the review is this: If they tell you a policy, procedure, etc, just expect it to be the exact opposite. Nothing they tell you as family is accurate or true."
"Let me preface this by saying I am a healthcare professional, I understand the difficulty of healthcare. That being said, I wouldn’t take my dog to this facility. My loved one was admitted to this facility for depression with suicidal ideation, he was not only pushed aside for medical needs (requires CPAP for sleep) by being taken to a couch in a fully lit day room to sleep but his mental health was far from better upon discharge. Harsha stated he had received hope to social well being of our patients, strengthen family function and reduce need for further hospitalization by achieving a level of excellence” when my husband requested staff assistance during a panic attack he was told “we’re busy” his medications were not administered at the correct times. During the admission process it was asked if I would like to be a part of the treatment plan and decision to which we answered yes, I was not once contacted by an associate of this “hospital” to discuss my loved ones care. He was admitted early in the morning and received his morning medication at approximately 2pm. My loved one was discharged after one full day inpatient, I ask you if a loved one is admitted for intense therapy, can this be completed in one day? Upon discharge once home I found he had been sent with another patients wallet, including social security card drivers license and debit card all of which were turned in to the proper authorities. I guess the point of this review is to say if your loved one needs help please think twice about sending them to this facility as they do not abide by their facility vision or mission statements."
"This company is an absolute embarrassment. We have an adult sibling with Down Syndrome exhibiting sudden issues and after a lot of back and forth were finally given the information for this place. Called ahead to verify the services they offered fit our needs. Needed in patient care to really determine how to help her. Drove 4 hours to drop her off. They didn't even keep her 3 full days. Did nothing at all to help her but give her an antidepressant and say it is showing improvement (I'm not a doctor but the future doctors we spoke with confirmed it absolutely doesn't work that fast.) Turns out she wasn't depressed at all and luckily a more competent company has been assisting. But that isn't the worst of it. They called for us to pick her up and we begged them not to. Cost is obviously a concern and we would have to find somewhere else within 30 days for the deductible to stick. They didn't care. They released her. They released her in the middle of winter---- with none of the clothes she came in with because they lost them. And without her shoes because they lost them. So we took her in her clinic booties and had to go buy her new shoes before making the trek home. Fast forward and we get the bill for a couple of thousand dollars. We push back because they didn't do a single thing and no one outside of the billing lady, Candy, will speak with us. We are told management will call but they don't and eventually Candy informs us that the level of care received isn't relevant to how much they charge us. No discounts. Cool. We keep pushing and are advised they will sue her (this 23 year old Down Syndrome woman with only social security income) and eventually we come to an agreement. We settle the amount and pay half and so I make a full payment of $800 for them to have watched her for 2 nights and lose her stuff (because we got a separate bill for the meds they prescribed). But at least it is done and they are out of my hair- right? Oh of course not. Received a lovely letter from a lawyer (debt collector) for a balance of a other 200 some dollars (plus their legal fees of course) suing her. Please---- do not trust this place with your loved ones. They want money and have zero interest in helping the community they are claiming to serve. Listen to the other reviews!"
"If I could leave zero starts - that's what I would choose. I would HIGHLY recommend NOT sending any of your loved ones to this facility. As if the experience in dropping your child off to complete strangers at a mental facility isn't already enough heartbreak, the staff and their communication just make it that much worse for all involved. From the time that my child was admitted, to the lack of communication during the 3 night, 2 day stay as well as the awful discharge process the entire experience was a mess. I was promised my son would get his belongings within 30 minutes of admission and when I saw him the next day at 7pm for visitation he had still yet to receive any of them. He was never able to make phone calls as promised the entire the time he was there. The cafeteria room they hold visitation in was absolutely disgusting with food and drink all over the tables and floors. At the time of discharge a "nurse" met with me to give me discharge paperwork but was unable to answer any of my post care questions. She did assure me that my care coordinator would call me right after team therapy and that never happened either. His new medication was not there so I had to drive somewhere else to get them and then two days later I got a call that some of my child's belongings were left behind and I could come get them. I explained that we leave 4 hours away and they could please mail them - still have ever yet to receive his belongings or hear from anyone at HBC. The only "help" this place offered was the help of Stacy Whitacre, my child's assigned Psychiatrist with what was wrong and the reason for his admission. I strongly encourage you to NOT send your loved one to this facility, especially your child or adolescent."
