"Enlightening experience! Was just in town for work and was able to stop by."
"LOVED this place, was surprised at how knowledgeable our tour guide was and this place was filled with so much information and artifacts. I never knew Evansville had such rich black history! Great place."
"The staff was very friendly and informative. The museum is well maintained and there's an interactive station. I learned a great deal about the local black community as well as a bit of American history. What a gem for the Evansville community!"
"The Evansville African American Museum provides a great way to spend 1-2 hours. Tickets were affordable ($5 for students, $7 for adults). With a ticket, we got a tour of the small museum. The museum has a bit of American history but the real charm is the focus on the local community. You'll learn how the deviststion of the great flood, famous community members, and how schools/students battled racism. I absolutely loved the art. There are two beautiful quilts donated by schools and lovely pieces on the stairs. Our tour guide was raised in the apartment building that now serves as the museum. She was incredibly knowledgeable and a blast to be around. She added the perfect amount of local touch and charm to positively affect our experience."
