About the The Build Guild
The Build Guild is Fort Wayne's premier makers space located at 1025 Goshen Avenue. As a home goods store, we offer a wide range of tools and equipment for individuals looking to create their own projects, whether it be painting, sewing, building props, or fixing furniture. Our space originally catered to the cosplay community but has since expanded to welcome creative individuals from all artistic backgrounds.
For as low as $25 per month, members have access to table space, tools, and equipment to bring their creative visions to life. We also offer monthly workshops to help beginners learn new skills and kickstart their creative journey. With 24-hour access and a "Free Stuff Bin" full of materials donated by members, builders have everything they need to get started on their projects.
From woodworking to foamsmithing, our classes cover a variety of crafts to suit every interest. Whether you want to learn pottery, metal forging, or paint pouring, we have something for everyone. Visit our workshop page to sign up for a tour or give us a call at 260-209-9150 for more information.

Reviews of The Build Guild
"Great place to learn and create DIY projects. We made these in the foam smithing class. This project teaches you how to make just about anything in foam. Definitely a great starter project to build off of."
"Really nice people and so many things to do! Pottery, wood turning, welding and a bunch more."
"This place is amazing. I've discussed whether or not something exactly like the build guild existed... where can someone go to basically have access to woodshop equipment, metal working equipment , even a forge, and ceramics stuff... I don't onow anything about ceramics, but they got it there... a low monthly rate for 24/7 access to all of it. Got a thing to build but don't have a garage, or work bench, or tools, or welder, or plasma cutter, or lathe, or a milling machine, or.... it's a communal effort, so please show some respect and clean up behind yourself. A lot of tool sets are incomplete, but I would say that's to be expected. It happens. I've only been here once, as a guest, but I love it, and I'll be getting a membership before long."
"Not what I was expecting but I definitely left learning something. I was a bit confused where I was supposed to go for my private class when I first got there. No one was at the front desk directing anyone. The place was kinda unorganized and all over the place. Wasn't too shocked with how many activities they have, just didn't expect it to all be crammed into one space. I thought the class I was in, smelting/ metalworkshop, would be a bit more interactive than it was. I thought a couple of people would get their own station and do a follow along with an instructor. Instead it was standing in a small room while one instructor rambled random facts to the group. The most we did was hold items and drop a piece of aluminum into the fire. We were at least looking foward to the daggers we were supposed to take home but they ended up not coming out at all. The pour the instructor did failed and we got a shrug and sorry then sent on our way. We didn't get to the part where you grind/sand it down and take home your work. I'd maybe try this place again and the prices aren't that bad but I'd definitely suggest just using it as a resource and not going into classes with your expectations too high."
"I will just start off by saying that this is a really cool place and Larry, the owner, is super nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. I wish I knew about it sooner. However, I recently took the aluminum smelting workshop, where we were supposed to go home with a dagger that we cast and polished. But Larry did not get a good cast and so all of them failed and not a single dagger was made. All we got to do for the entire 2 hours was stand around looking at a fire and each put a few cans in to watch melt. It's pretty lame that we didn't even get to retry making them and that we didn't get to take home the dagger that we paid for and were supposed to make. He said we could take home the amorphous chunk of aluminum if we wanted but that's not what I came there to do. I know that my experience was not the typical one, as he said he had never had 100% failure of casts, but regardless it is the experience I had and am reviewing. I feel kinda jipped and disappointed. I would definitely come back for a different workshop if I weren't getting ready to move out of state and I would still recommend this place to others interested in attending a workshop."
