Reviews of Texas Oncology-Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center
"After being diagnosed with Stage3 HER2 Breast Cancer I needed reassurance that my life was not ending. I am extremely grateful for the doctors and staff here at Texas Oncology. Because of the positive effects that each person has shown to me during my time here, has given me hope. Dr. Blum and her staff were amazing. Dr. Dao and her staff were phenomenal in caring for me and my family. The entire radiation team was very supportive and attentive to my needs. Dr. Pearson and his staff are extremely helpful and supportive. The 4th floor staff and lab technicians are great. Thank you to everyone here at Texas Oncology for saving my life. The way you treat patients is a part of the healing journey and you all deserve to be recognized. Regina Francis"
"The stress from using this hospital is enough to give a person a heart attack, so I might just take my chances the next time I have a cancer scare. Really nice doctors, but everyone else is incompetent and dishonest. Last visit, I told them I wanted to pay for all past visits as well as the current visit. They said okay and that I was all paid up. Then I get a statement from them with no explanation of what’s owed or why. I reached out to their billing department over and over again to get details on this, but they either didn’t respond or failed to provide information after saying that they would during a call. I can’t say for sure, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this hospital is just one big scam."
"Awful. Lack of urgency, slow to respond, playing telephone games. Inconsiderate to patients and their care takers. My husband is a new patient at Texas Oncology to continue his cancer care, we have experienced so many different hospitals in so many different states. This one is the worst in terms of communication, efficiency, speed, urgency. Be prepared to do heavy lifting and even do their job scheduling, requesting authorization, correcting communication. Blatant carelessness. As if it’s not frustrating already, their lack of urgency and broken communication makes things even worse. It’s been a month since we saw the doctor who told his team to make an appointment for PET Scan. The team not only did not request for authorization for Pet Scan, but also didn’t make the appointment. Then they refer me to central scheduling to do their job, to speak with them regarding this matter. Excuse me? Then central scheduling said they have not receiving request for PET Scan, so now I have to call back the team and clarify why they did not do their work. I am taking him out of Texas Oncology officially and moving him to UT Southwestern. We’re very disappointed to find out that Texas Oncology does not use the MyChart system, for efficient and effective communication with the patient and with outside out of state consulting doctors we continue to work. Your choice of patient portal (Navigating Care) is highly problematic, inefficient, ineffective, creates broken communication, creates obstacles for patient and his care take (me) in accessing and sharing his results with other doctors nation-wide. We have lived in many states, he has records from all over the place and we continue to consult with his out of state oncologists as needed. The chart you use is preventing us from sharing his results transparently, directly, quickly, with all other providers and hospitals. It creates barriers, blocks access, as well as does not provide options for me to at least download results onto my desktop to share with other providers. Not only now there’s problems with sharing records and results quickly and efficiently, the portal itself is a website, and doesn’t come as app for easy access, notification, etc. My husband’s care team sent a message to him for urgent emergency CT Scan, and we didn’t get properly notified because it’s web based only, not app based. We missed this message. The it gets worse. As if the current texas oncology portal wasn’t frustrating enough, this gets worse. I took my husband to emergency OETC care for cancer patients, and THEY were using a completely different portal from the patient portal and now, I can’t even access test results and CT scan results from the emergency care unit to share with out of state doctors we’re working with. It’s like Texas Oncology has no sense of urgency, or intentionally is causing barriers to communication for the wellbeing of the patient. Cancer patients and their families are frustrated enough, trying our best to take care of our loved one. But Texas Oncology choice of portal is just downright frustrating. I am a web/digital designer, so it’s not like I don’t know how to use digital interfaces. This blatant choice to not link up to a widely used MYCHART is inconsiderate. Communication needs to be without barriers, quick, without delay, efficient, transparent, easy to access, easy to use, easy to share. Texas Oncology I beg you, please reconsider your choice here. People’s lives are at stake; at least make it easier for patients and their caretakers to make the process smoother, faster, easier. We already are dealing with a lot. Thank you."
"I feel the care and concern we have experienced at Texas Oncology has diminished. From the people who answers their phones to the overall care received. I have a loved one and I witnessed her doctor talk over her and basically not listen to her. I have worked in Healthcare many years and would NEVER over talk or not ask what they are experiencing. I left messages forv the nurses for Dr. Nadler and Dr. Cheek and no one called me back. I am the caregiver and the daughter who is listed as a primary contact. This has been an awful experience. When does a group of Healthcare professionals stop apologizing and get their act together."
