"My experience w Westville Carter Lumber goes back about 15 years ago so hopefully things have changed for the better. I was reroofing my house and 7/16" 3-ply CDX and Owens Corning fiberglass shingles were purchased for the entire roof. Several sheaths of the CDX had 4 instead of 3 layers along an end, so these were unusable. Within a year several sheaths of the CDX were curling on the ends despite being secured with 40d nails, and the worst required cutting out and replacing 3 sheaths. Since then other sheaths have curled on the ends but no so bad as to require replacement. Along with using the 40d nails along the perimeter of the sheaths, Blueskin TG covered the entire roof and helped the curling problem from becoming worse. (A 10d nail would loosely fit between the sheaths and H clips were used horizontally.) A number of bundles of the shingles were damaged along the corners, a number of them were wet inside, and many had too few granules. Within 10 years, a number of shingles had lost all granules. The roof was installed during extremely hot weather and no rain. My point - The materials, esp the CDX, appeared to be substandard quality and Carter pretty much blew off my complaint."
