"Went to Trilby's in Ocean Springs last night. Made reservations for 5:00 ( read somewhere that reservations were required) we were met at the door by multiple people. The setting and decorations were very nice tables and seating comfortable. It is a small restaurant. The hostess was wonderful she chatted with us when we arrived and when we left. Our waitress Kaitlyn did a good job although she seemed like she was having a bad day and was not very engaging. I did notice that other servers were much more engaging with their tables. The restaurant opens up at 5:00 so we were her first table. The menu is small, which they are very clear about on the website. They want to do small dishes very well instead of having large menus which we are more than happy with. Unfortunately the kitchen was out of the bacon-wrapped figs as an appetizer, they had ran out the night before which was disappointing as we had been thinking about those all day all day but we will definitely be returning to try them at a later time. The drinks were great. Husband was a little disappointed that our server said there were no side salads only large dinner salads but we actually saw what appeared to be a small side salad served to another table. I ordered the chicken piccata it was awesome! Chicken was crispy on the outside tender on the inside and season perfectly. My husband had the flounder bourre and remarked that although it had a lot of bones in it (it was pretty much a whole flounder) it was easily the best piece of fish he had eaten in a long time. I also had a bite and it was awesome. The fish was tender seasoned perfectly. The side dishes are ala cart and he ordered the creamed spinach. I easily could have eaten a giant bowl of that with some tortilla chips it was great. My only food critique which I did tell the hostess on the way out the door was our dessert. We ordered the Bananas Foster. This is something we have eaten frequently especially in New Orleans and usually when served the bananas are cooked and hot. This dish was raw bananas drizzled with the bananas foster sauce and ice cream. Don't get me wrong it was still tasty but it would have been much better had it been cooked. As I said I did mention this to the hostess and she seemed confused remarking that she thought it was a hot dessert as well. Keep in mind this is a priceyish restaurant but we felt it was well worth it and we will be returning especially to try those figs!"
"First time back at Trilbys since the reopening. Sam was our server and did a great job. We had a wonderful dinner. Order sautéed craw claws, excellent. Save some of the marinade for your bread! French onion soup and gumbo both delicious. Entrees of trout trilby and trout amandine were both stellar. Recommend loaded baked potato side. Save room for dessert. Ordered chocolate bread pudding and the crème brûlée for the table. Soooo yum."
"Went here out on a whim for Valentine’s Day - someone canceled their reservation and we were lucky enough to take their place. Didn’t really know you have to have a reservation beforehand. Kristen was our waitress and she was upbeat, friendly, and knowledgeable about the food. My husband had the crab au gratin appetizer and I had the fried green tomato appetizer. Both were delicious! Then both of us had the surf and turf with filet mignon. My husband ordered his medium and it was red and tender. I ordered mine medium well and there was no pink. I don’t eat a lot of steak, but I thought for what it was, it should have been better. It tasted kind of dry. For dessert we both got the cheesecake and it was delicious. The atmosphere was perfect for any occasion and the chairs were velvety cushioned, extremely comfortable, and very nice. All in all, we enjoyed our 3 course meal and look forward to coming back in the future."
"Nice atmosphere. It all started with ordering appetizers which came in a reasonable time except that one appetizer didn’t arrive at all. The wrong drink was delivered. Next came the steaks but the only problem is they forgot the salads that are included with steak. The waitress said she could not get the kitchen to make them. The appetizers were great and the twice baked potato was great but the steaks were not very flavorable. It tasted like it was just cooked on a flat grill. Not worth the money. Service was TERRIBLE!"
"What a great brunch experience! The atmosphere is elegant and professional. Every room is decorated differently but all flow beautifully. Everyone who work there are so nice and spoke to us like they were genuinely happy we were there. Such a rare thing in the service world today. Our server Angie was outstanding! Polite, fast, and took great care of us. The food was delicious. I disagree with the others that stated the food was cold. Our food was hot, literally still steaming. The drinks were tasty with great flavors. We will 100% be back very soon to taste their dinner. We have nothing negative to say about our experience."
