"I was so disappointed in my experience with Dr. Varner, especially since he was referred to me by one of the radiology techs at the imaging center. My experience was quite the opposite of what the tech described. I wont speculate why, but will summarize here: In hindsight I should have change Physicians after the 1st appointment, but I just thought it may have been a off day, after all he was recommended and also received good reviews. My first appt he barely looked away from his computer screen as we talked, I was a new patient to the facility so no history in the computer besides the BP and temp that was written on a piece of paper. i had recently found out I was pregnant after years of being told i would not be able to and was also of advance maternal age, so I had questions and was seeking guidance. My appointments with him made me feel like I was on a conveyor belt and his personality was as dry as a piece of stale toast. He was the worst part of my whole pregnancy. Thank God, I had to also see a High risk doctor ( which more than made up for the unpleasant attitude with Dr Varner.) Initially i was a little upset when he said the Dr who will deliver me will be whichever physician from the practice is on call that day. ( I did assume it would be your physician, that you made a relationship with etc, but that must be the old way of doing it :(. Nonetheless, it worked out because i would not have wanted Dr.Varner's negative energy in the room during the birth of my child and I am so glad i delivered when I did and had a wonderful resident and staff Physician. After my delivery I had 4 follow-ups with Dr. Varner. My incision had not healed as it should and each time I came he would say its ok, then he started using the nitrate to close a stubborn section, another month goes by and i'm concerned so he tells me in his dry tone: " Well you can have surgery, just schedule with the nurse. You will need to have someone bring you as you will be put to sleep". Ok Thank you, but what type of surgery? That was my last day seeing him and I went for a second opinion. The 2nd Physician asked me if my doctor ever exam my incision and i could not confirm or deny, i just knew i laid on the table and showed him and he appeared to look. Well the Physician was truly disgusted with what went on the past few months and that surgery was even suggested for a easy fix that would have been caught if my provider actually examined my belly. I AM SO Happy to be a mom and the experience the last 18 months have been great. The end result is wonderful, however; my medical path leading up to my delivery and post was an HORRIBLE experience. So much so that I made a note in my phone to remind me every month to write a review when i got time, and although it took over a year, i wanted to share my experience. Oh and one last thing, during one of my post appts with Dr. Varner I shared that i would like to have another child and wanted to discuss preparations i can do now, especially since I had a condition that caused me to deliver early. His response " That will probably be unlikely. Alot of women have just 1 child". Well thank you for your opinion, but that is not what i asked. Over the next month I spoke with several clinic patients in reference to their experiences with the physicians, 32 to be exact and the majority of patients glowed about Dr. Holliday. "I have been a patient of Dr. Varner for over 10 years, during that time I had two daughters and he was my saving grace after I gave birth to my youngest daughter in 2011 and ultimately assisted with the decision to have a hysterectomy for various reasons. I will verify that he is exceptional and his bedside manner exceeds any other physician, he strives to give his patients full attention and time during visits while answering every question you may have with sensibility and compassion. He has an understanding about a woman's body in every aspect both emotional and physical, so he sympathizes with your feelings and he makes his patients comfortable in every sense. I have never had any other doctor be so dedicated to his career and patients as Dr. Varner is and you would be a fool not to choose him as your doctor. Also, his office staff is phenomenal they have been with him for many many years and will care for your well being just as he does. Thanks Dr. Varner and staff for being there for me when I needed you most."
