"My son had brain surgery done here and as expected, we were SO nervous and clueless of what to expect. This place was very nice and clean! We stayed here from a Wednesday-Saturday and every one was so kind, ready and willing to help in anyway they could. From the doctors to the housekeeping, everyone seemed so happy to there and made the experience so much easier. The first nurse we encountered right before surgery was probably the sweetest! I hate that I don’t remember her name but she had so much compassion for us and explained everything thoroughly as we prepared to hand our son over to the surgeons. We stayed in the PICU for a little over 24 hours and our RN was Georgia and she was INCREDIBLE. Our son was having a very hard time in recovery and she showed up almost immediately everytime we called and did everything in her power to help manage his pain. She interacted with my son everytime she came in, even if he wasn’t happy with her, she made sure to speak to him everytime. She also had a student with her I think, Tori, but you would have never known she was a student if they didn’t mean room it. They were just so welcoming on the PICU floor and never once made us feel like a bother. The Chaplin came and prayed for us and the Child Life representative passed by and gave us a goody bag with the most thought things in it. They also gave my son a stuffed bear and the most precious quilt that someone had made and donated. The PICU floor was just phenomenal, I can’t say enough good things about my experience there. We moved to the 5th floor after that, not sure what the name of the floor is but it was a lot more laid back there and the nurses gave more uninterrupted hours of sleep to us. Everyone there was so kind as well. The most memorable person there for me was Janesha, she was the CNA that we had during the night and she created such a presence and demeanor that made you feel like you’ve known her forever. She was incredible. There were so many other people that had a hand in make a great experience and I hate that I can’t remember their names but this facility was all in all amazing. I wish I could give a 4.5, and the only reason I won’t give a 5 is because we did come across a nurse who was not so great but she was literally the only person the entire visit that we encounter that was rude. The doctors were great, we had McBride as the neurologist and that’s who we were primarily there for but we came across many other doctors who were very professional and compassionate."
"We had to go here today as my 1 year old knocked her noggin really bad I was extremely worried. From the moment we walked in the staff was concerned, sympathetic, and helpful. We've never been to the hospital before, so I didn't know what to expect. This was for sure a great experience given the circumstance!"
"The hospital is not a place you want to find yourself with your child the week before Christmas. But, after my son suffered complications from the flu, that's exactly where we were. We couldn't have had a better experience throughout our stay. Dr. Chheda and the rest of the ER team treated my son quickly and thoroughly explained the decision to admit him. The nurses ensured our stay was comfortable and my son had everything he needed. Drs. Renfrew and Roy rounded regularly to make sure his treatment plan was up-to-date. The facility was clean and there were plenty of food options for our son. What could have been scary was instead an overall positive experience for our young son. He even asked to stay longer once we got discharged! I would highly recommend Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital to any parent in need of exceptional care."
"I was a patient here for around 2 months and in the beginning it wasn't the best experience but as I started to recover it became nicer. I had to have a sitter in my room and some of them would just be on call with their friend or something which was really annoying to me when I would be throwing up and in pain. But after I talked to my other doctors about it, it didn't happen after that. I had a nurse and she was one of the best nurses I had. She was one of the only nurses that would sit with me that would actually help me. She would help me keep my room clean and when I would take showers she would fold my clean clothes for me and remake my bed which was amazing because i was weak and in so much pain. They don't have therapists there so she would sit and listen to me vent and comfort me. Also a student nurse i had would come in my room and comfort me and put a wet towel over my head and talk me through it when I would have fits of throwing up. Once I started to feel better me and her became close and she would come check on me and talk to me and even come color with me sometimes. My nutritionist and the child advocate would come get me from my room to go play jenga which i really appreciated. Being in the hospital was probably the hardest part of my life but I'm honestly glad it happened. They gave me so many coping skills and actually made me fight to survive. I wouldn't be who I am today without the nurses and all the other staff that was by my side in the hospital. There were a few other nurses I loved sm but I would end up writing a whole essay. But I will never forget the nurses that took care of me they changed my whole outlook on life and actually made me want to live my life and grow old instead of giving up I wish I could tell them how much they have improved my life and helped me."
"This place is always my first choice when it comes to my children, because they have always been thorough. I brought my daughter Sunday because she had been experiencing vomiting, headaches, dizziness which are pretty reoccurring for her. I wanted answers other than it’s a virus…which is why I chose this place. No one over talked me, or brushed me off. The lobby was about 45% full and we were still in a room less than an hour of coming. After being there about 1.5 and doing blood work they noticed her hemoglobin level was 4. They admitted her right away. Asked more questions. Ran more test. I’m so appreciative for everyone we encountered 3/12- 3/14 from checking in to staying rm 4506 and rm 3511. I don’t remember everyone’s name As you could imagine we spoke with a host of people (Nikki, Alex, Madison, Ashley, Natalie, just a few I can remember but everyone was great) They saved my baby’s (teen) life. They made sure I understood everything that was going on. Thank you to this facility and their team I am forever grateful."
