"If i could give zero stars i would. The property management had no communication skills. The dumpster was always overflowing leaving an awful smell. The pool was always locked DURING SUMMER WITH NO WARNING. Maintenance would enter without the approval of us and with two small children that was always scary. And not to mention there is not enough parking at this complex."
"Bad smell of dog poop in all the green areas, because the dog waste station is disgustingly full. Remember that these are organic wastes that give off unpleasant odors and cause illnesses, the healthiest and most hygienic thing is to change the waste station bags daily. Flies are everywhere."
"We love MarQ Vestavia with its new management. Everything came along; all the processes seem to be under control now. Maintenance is timely and efficient. Office is always there to help. I highly recommend this place. And the view is gorgeous, too! It would be just excellent if there was a room for a small playground or fenced play area(as we have quite a few active kids)"
"I stayed here for almost 2 years and went through their change in ownership of the properties. There were various changes they made, some for better and some for worse. Some good changes they made: -Pest control improved, no longer had the issue of cockroaches -Smell of weed seemed to at least partially go away -Gym equipment was repaired -Sidewalks and parking lot recently replaced or in process of replacing -When talking with management, they do their best to assist you with issues and at least seem to care -Was easy to get maintenance issues taken care of whenever putting in a ticket -The one time I needed after-hours service was taken care of immediately. High praises for that -Service workers overall very friendly However some issues since the change in company: -Sometimes hard to get in contact with them, mainly over email. Won't always respond. -They seemed to have switch workers a few times over? Unsure about details, but it seems a few people that I would talk to would be suddenly replaced by another set, and so never got to fully know their names before leaving. I do not know if their changing has stopped. -Price requirements changed. This is my biggest issue. After they took over, they started to require renters insurance and added a $25 charge to everyone's rent who did not get their own. That in itself is not an issue, my complaint comes in when I got insurance (Through the company they recommended) and was still charged the monthly $25 on top of my renters insurance. They told us in the email sent out that they would automatically know we got it if we went through their recommended company. I sent an email copy to them despite this. I also brought a physical copy and handed it to them in person, and yet was still charged an additional $25 up until I moved out. -Another noticeable price change was that pet fees got more expensive. This was not added to my bill as I was already living there, but new residents are charged more per pet when moving in. Some things about the property overall: -Nice kitchen equipment/washer and dryer. -Bathroom is small, but comfortable as you get used to the small space -Counter tops/cabinets also very nice and easy to clean. -Lighting isn't ideal. Not a lot of windows and the lack of a ceiling light in the living space made it hard to keep the living room comfortable/inviting. -AC units are TERRIBLE. Constant problems, even when being replaced. And its not just a one unit issue, I have seen many units have this issue. New management is great at trying to assist in anyway they can, so they're not at fault for dealing with the hand they were dealt. -Easy access to most needs, as you're right between Vestavia and Hoover. However, you are near very busy roads. Hwy 31 nearby will almost always be busy if you go that way. -Dog/Cat friendly. Many dog owners walk around the apartment complex. Dog park not too far away. Also many breeds are accepted, including larger dog breeds -Friendly neighbors -Carpet is that weird thicker kind, so can be a pain to clean -Mailboxes aren't great. Lock was often jammed and door kept falling off. Sometimes would get stuck against the ones it was next to -Outside grills not allowed. However that I believe may be due to city ordinances and not just an apartment agreements -Candles not allowed, get a wax melt -Not a lot of parking spaces, can get overcrowded, especially after 5 pm. -Parking spots are not assigned. Personally love not dealing with a stranger taking my parking spot. Downside is I wouldn't always be able to park close to apartment. Really only bad during bad weather days or coming home for groceries -Three giant trash containers, however they can still get filled up pretty easily. -Currently resident portal does not let you pay rent till the day its due, as not all fees are added till then Overall, not the best place to live but definitely not the worst. Little expensive due to the area, but the people have been friendly. A nice place to maybe start out."
"So after being pressured to move in, especially in the middle of the month The apartment was trash... roaches everywhere... the bathtub peeling... dirty patio and kitchen, while holes in the wall and the washer that doesn't work... I was promised that things would be fixed before Oct... I walked back in and nothing was done... the same pictures I took in the middle of the month was the same pictures I took on the 1st... I don't have time to say everything wrong with this apartment complex... if I could rate this an negative I would. Then I was told it was disgruntled because I expected things to get fixed... smh... DO YOURSELF A FAVOR PLEASE DON'T MOVE HERE...."
