Reviews of Downtown Rescue Mission Thrift Store
"I like this store but WHY ARE YOU WRITING ON THINGS WITH SHARPIE? It basically destroys many items. Who wants “8.99” written on the bottom of their shoe until the end of time…. Kind of embarrassing if someone sees!!! Stop it! You’re ruining stuff."
"I just left DRM on Memorial Parkway Huntsville SO unhappy. I was specifically looking for an office chair and they had about 4 without armrests but they also had 3 with armrest, and I wanted one of the ones with armrest. The problem was there was no price on any of the ones with armrests and I noticed there were other pieces of furniture on the floor that didn't have prices. So I asked the young lady at check out if a piece of furniture doesn't have a price tag on it does that mean it's sold. She said no. But she also told me the classic resale store line 'the chair couldn't be priced on the spot.' She said those chairs hadn't been processed yet so therefore from what I understood they could not be sold. SOMEBODY, Please make that make sense to me! I'll let you in on a little secret,. You can't make that make sense to me because I have managed a resale store for NINE years and I NOW work at a bigger nationwide resale store for the last one year. I totally get that we can't price things on the spot but in all my experience, that was because someone took the price tag off and we'd have to take it back to reprocess it. In THIS case and this downtown rescue mission store, they're putting merchandise out on the floor including lots of furniture without being processed, but customers are not allowed to buy these items because no one has processed them? That makes ZERO sense to me. I won't be going back to that store and I WON'T tell 10 people about my experience and tell them not to go to that store, but I am the type of person that will share the wealth and tell my friends and other customers where the best stores are, who has the best merchandise who has decent prices, and who has stores that are clean, etc...but I will never tell anyone to go to this store again."
"Prices are way too high! Men's used slacks for $2.00 less than new at Walmart? Items in the store were donated by good people to help the financially troubled and DRM is charging way more than many people can afford. I've always heard that DRM cares more about money than the poor and homeless. Their prices practically prove the rumors."
"This is one of my most cherished places to shop. I was able to put together an amazing Table Setting for Thanksgiving and Christmas. By purchasing in this store. I want to mention that I love that they now offer mew items (pink tagged). However I think many of the items are overpriced. I love the staff they are always always helpful and encouraging. Even when they are tired or burned out which happens sometimes. I am thankful for their delightful spirits and their ability to be patient when customers are display nasty impatient attitudes. I have been shopping here for 8 years now. I mention this because recently each store has raised the prices on electronics. A suggestion I have is to not double the price, because then it becomes unaffordable. Especially for a used and donated item. P.S. Everything in the table setting was purchased at this store."
"This Down Town Rescue Mission is a pretty sizable thrift store with a good selection of clothes and shoes to search through. I have purchased several things from here and thanks to the convenient location on the Parkway, I’m always stopping by to see what’s available."
