"If your loved one has dementia, do not send here! HORRIBLE CARE!!! My mom went in completely independent and two weeks later came out a drugged zombie unable to walk without help, not knowing who she was or where she was, in severe pain, and having hallucinations. Overmedicated, zipped up & locked in a tent at night (for up to 12 hours at a time) with no water. Instead of escorting her to the bathroom, they would put diapers on her and give her a sleeping shot--started at 5mg then went up to 10mg. When she started resisting the shots, they held her down and bruised her up. Then, they put in her records that SHE is combative! Now, no long term rehab will take her. Every time I called (and asked), I got a list of at least six different drugs they had her on. They would not let us visit her on her 81st birthday, they limited phone calls, and gave her happy meds. She sounded drunk when I spoke to her on the phone, screaming about how "happy" she was. (Not at all typical behavior for her.) Now that I have her home, reduced her meds down to the bare minimum, allow her to walk daily and get fresh air and sunshine, give her healthy food and supplements, she sleeps through the night and goes to the bathroom by herself with no help, she has NO more hallucinations, she knows who she is and where she is, and is even helping out with housework. THERE ARE BETTER WAYS!!! Dementia patients are still humans!"
