Reviews of Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center
"Nestled conveniently in downtown Baton Rouge, the Hilton Capitol Center promises an optimal location with restaurants and entertainment venues just a brief 5-10 minute stroll away. Opt for the hotel's valet parking for added ease, or choose self-parking from a paid lot merely a block from the main entrance. Upon every entry, the warm greetings from the front desk team heightened the overall enjoyment of my stay. The hotel's amenities include a bar serving both beverages and delectable food, alongside the convenience of in-room dining for those days when venturing out is not on the agenda. Room views, contingent on location within the hotel, offer a delightful variety. In my experience, the corner rooms with a river view steal the spotlight, offering a captivating scene of downtown and the enchanting evening traffic on the Mississippi River Bridge. Indulge in the executive floor's offerings, where beverages and snacks are served during specific hours. Clean, cozy rooms with comfortable beds characterize the accommodations, complemented by spacious bathrooms stocked with toiletries. The lobby's Louisiana-inspired decorations, crowned by a festive Mardi Gras Christmas Tree, create a welcoming ambiance. For downtown lodging needs, the Hilton Capitol Center earns a solid recommendation, blending comfort, convenience, and a touch of Louisiana charm. While pricing fluctuates based on weekends or events, savvy travelers might find opportunities to snag a more budget-friendly rate."
"Stayed at many hotels and this is by far the most disappointing. My family of 7 stayed here and in one night we knew it would never happen again. They charge way too much for what they offer. We came for the haunted aspect of the hotel and they wouldn't let us see any of it. The front desk ladies where rude the rooms where not very nice at all. Pretty small. They charge 20$ or more per plate for breakfast that isn't very good not many choices.. the best part of the stay was the door man the vallet services and the waiters. Highly recommend finding a nicer hotel."
"I would have loved to give this a good review. Unfortunately, here are the 3 main problems I encountered, and hopefully you have the opportunity to stay somewhere else: 1) The TV in my room doesn’t work. I called down 58 minutes ago to ask for a solution, called again at 44 minutes to check. No rush, and no ETA. I’ll be going to bed soon, so I’m just going to assume that this amenity isn’t happening. 2) The shower was broken. No hot water until I literally broke the handle to force it. It’s super janky. 3) There is no restaurant service. I booked this hotel thinking there was a restaurant downstairs. I went, sat at a table, nothing. In order to order food and drinks, you need to go to the bar, and then no wait staff is serving. So if you get a side salad and an entree (like I did) they’ll come at the same time and once they’re out, they’re out and no one comes by. Think McDonalds service in a hotel lobby. Such a huge disappointment. We have been loyal to Hilton for years, and this may be the final nudge we need to go Marriott. Our last 3 experiences have been similar, and for the price you pay for basic amenities when the amenities don’t exist, it’s not worth it."
"I spent 3 nights here. I’ve stayed at many hotels over the years, primarily Hilton properties, but I have to say that this one was the most disappointing. I stayed in a King room on the Executive floor and it was extremely small!! So much so that if you went to the bathroom, when you closed the door the toilet was inches away from the back of your leg. I used my coffee on the first morning and it wasn’t restocked until the day before I left. One morning I went to the restaurant to get a cup of coffee and for some strange reason the coffee supplies such as creamer, sugar, etc was on one side of the room and the coffee dispenser was on the opposite side. One of the lamps’ on/off switch didn’t work so in order to turn off the light I had to unplug it. I had a room with a balcony and the first couple of days it was chilly and windy. The cold air and wind could be easily felt coming through the seams of the door leading to the balcony. When I went to the bar the first night the bartender was much less than average. She spent more time talking to someone who appeared to be a friend of hers than serving me. I had to wait for a good bit while she finished her conversation with the other lady. At the time there was only one other person in the lounge area other than myself and the bartenders friend. All in all, as I said in the beginning it was a below average, disappointing stay at what should be an above average/luxury hotel. I’d expect these sorts of things at a Comfort Inn or Days Inn but NOT at a Hilton. Especially considering that I spent nearly a thousand dollars to stay there."
"Beware they book loud bands at this hotel. Music playing so loud for an event that our lamps were rattling in our room. We could hear the lyrics to the songs. Manager told me she didn't know how long they would play. And there was nothing they could do about it. They are an event center and this happens. After three calls and finally speaking to the manager, we moved at 10:30pm after already having settled in our room. We moved from 906....directly under the band....to the third floor...six floors down on the opposite side of the hotel. We could still hear the music, although it was much quieter. Still couldn't sleep until it stopped after 11:30 at night. At $250+ per night, I would expect a better hotel."
