Reviews of John P Lawlor, DDS, PC Family Dentistry
"I'd experienced sudden tooth pain, and they were able to get me in the same day. Very professional staff across the board, and incredibly friendly. I found out I have gum disease and was educated on the causes and effects, as well as how to properly floss. After the x-rays were finished, he walked me through what I was looking at and how it pertained to my issue, and we both discovered I had a dead tooth. I discovered my issue, got a dental health plan into place, and was educated in the process. 10/10 would recommend. As a side note, I have no insurance and was treated just the same as anyone else, as it should be. Those with insurance questions should contact their own providers, not a dental office. And let's be honest: are you asking your insurance provider for dental advice? I hope not. These folks are wonderful."
"I called to see if I could come in on account of some tooth pain, I was in the chair within 30 minutes of calling! Dr Lawlor and his staff were very professional and took the time to explain exactly what was happening and what was causing the pain, then removed the problem tooth. This was all done in just over an hour. Highly recommend."
"I’ve always been a little scared of going to the dentist … Had a tooth extracted and I’m telling you he did amazing ! Tells you what exactly is going on which helps the nerves , makes sure that your completely numb , and if you have anything going on afterwards they get you right in and make sure your okay . If I could give more than 5 stars I definitely would ."
"I would not recommend taking children to this dentist. I took my 6 yo, who has a cavity. The receptionist was not wearing a mask, which during Covid, I thought was a bit strange for a medical facility. The hygienist was nice, but didn't introduce herself to my son, or explain what she was doing. I was able to be in the exam room with him, thankfully for how the appointment went. I explained that he had a tooth that was bothering him when we went to the exam room, as well as included this information on the paperwork I filled out; however, the hygienist never asked him which tooth it was to take care when cleaning his teeth. After his teeth were cleaned, x-rays were needed. We spent 2 hrs in this office, only for them to get x-rays and a cleaning. My son was compliant the entire time, though stated it was uncomfortable having the bite wing in when they were doing the x-rays which is understandable as they are uncomfortable even for me. The dental assistant gave him the button to push to take the x-ray photo, which I thought at first was a good way to keep him occupied and interactive during the appointment. Eventually, Dr. Lawlor came in, checked out his teeth, and confirmed that he had a cavity. He requested additional x-rays from the assistant, which my son had no issue with. It took quite a while just to get some of the x-rays, which again, we were okay with the time it was taking as I would rather it not be rushed. Dr. Lawlor became frustrated with how long this was taking, and decided he was going to step in and get the remaining x-rays needed instead of the assistant. Instead of having her press the button to take the x-ray photos, he gave it to my son and asked him to take the photos when he was ready. Everything was going okay, until my son didn't press the button when he told him to and Dr. Lawlor yelled at my son. Stated that now he didn't get the image he needed, and it was going to take longer. He was visibly frustrated, and honestly should have just had the assistant pressing the button for the photos that he needed. This upset my son, obviously, as well as myself. I told them we were done with the appointment and would not be returning as I would never have a dentist who can't handle taking x-rays to perform a filling on a child's tooth. When I went to the front desk they suggested that we needed to return to schedule the filling. I explained that we absolutely would not be returning due to the way Dr.Lawlor spoke to my son, and the receptionist stated that she thought he was speaking to the assistant when he raised his voice and apologized for the issue. The fact that she thought he was raising his voice to the assistant seems to me that this is a frequent occurrence. I told them we would not be returning under any circumstances, and instead of Dr. Lawlor apologizing for the incident, gave the receptionist instructions to refer me to another facility. Overall, I wish I could leave a 0 star review as I have never had such an unprofessional experience at a dentistry facility."
"I called to make a first time patient appointment to have my teeth cleaned and I was able to be seen within 45 minutes. I wanted to find a local dentist as to not need to drive regularly to the VA Dental clinic in Evansville. I was impressed with how nice and friendly the staff and Dr Lawlor were. I will admit, I just needed a cleaning and there were no other issues that needed attention, but I still give a top review for the Doctor and his staff."
