Reviews of Meridian Star
"No paper for three days!!! What's up Meridian Star! Then on Saturday mom receives her paper finds it to be the Friday paper!!!! And to top it all off mom who is almost 90 y/o is suppose to have her paper delivered up to her home instead the paper is laying in the ditch near the road 300 ft down the driveway. Now there isn't many things left that mom enjoys doing but reading the newspaper is one of those things. Come on Meridian Star you should do better!!!!!!"
"The Meridian Star isn't what it used to be. I think we can all agree with that. The quality of the stories is still good. But, the quantity is lacking. I see things all the time in the national media that never make it to our local editions. It's odd how media sources half a country (or even half a world away) can get local stories that our newspaper can't (or won't). I guess it's a sign of the times. Print media is becoming less relevant these days. Fewer subscribers and advertisers, less money coming in. I guess that's why they have to pick and choose which stories they print. So, I do understand. At the same time, I've had to drop my subscription because I can often get more local stories elsewhere. I do still pick up copies at the news stand occasionally. Those too are becoming less and less frequent. Last Sunday I picked one up. $2.00 and it was about as thick as one of the weeklies you get at the gas station for a buck. It's just not enough in there to justify a subscription or even regular single purchases in these tough times. I do understand the economics of print publishing and I'm sure they're doing their best trying to stay afloat. Sadly, I feel like 'the star' will just be a memory in a few more years."
