Reviews of UT Southwestern Medical Center
"This is the most important review of my life and I feel I have to as it might help someone. In summary, if you have Ovarian Cancer please do your self a favor and go to MD Anderson. Perhaps they do well with other things but I can't speak to this. My wife passed in September and I really do not feel they did all they could to save her. She might not have lived but at least we would have felt all was done that was possible. Complaints against UT SW - While Mychart is a good resource for both patient and Doctors. I don't think enough is documented. Often, I have said the same things over and over again to multiple Doctors. In their summaries I seldom saw anything documented of value. - ER process for Extreme Cancer patients. Many times we need a check or follow-up. Having a stage 4 cancer person who is in extreme pain waiting in an emergency room is a bad practice. They need to be streamlined in. Mostly, there are labs that need taken and pain medicine delivered. Please do better you are horrible at this. Maybe better than a normal ER but your hospital claims to be an resource for cancer patients. If you want to be considered an Cancer Hospital this needs addressed. - Timely treatments and checks. My wife underwent Chemo for months, not once during treatment were scans done. My wife's chemo was completed by July 3rd. Her Cancer was most likely evident in June. There was no plan in place, and to this date one been has not been submitted. My wife had one consult with MD Anderson and we had a plan in a couple of days. This gives you a horrible reputation as a Cancer facility. Patients trust you and expect you to give them a plan and and to act upon it. Stopping the cancer should be a priority. Instead of just having people come in and racking up their insurance for issues you no capabilities of solving. Note: Not everything is horrible about your hospital. - The nurses are very good, I would say 90% are very caring and effecient. The only reason you have a 3 rating. - Dr. Holloway who was a fellow, did quite a bit to help, but he was not her primary Doctor. - The nurse techs are pretty good, I would say again 90% went above and beyond. 5% were just there. 5% were not very helpful. - Meal services were pretty good, my wife seldom ate but they always followed up and did their best."
"Flew in from Colorado for an appointment. Had a 50 min drive to get there. It was raining and there was an accident we were caught behind. We had allowed 15 extra minutes for the drive but due to being trapped behind accident for 30 min we were 15 min late. They cancelled that appointment. So the specialist was only going to allow 15 minutes for the visit and couldn't see me. Had to go catch a plane. Very hard core. If you are looking for a place that cares and will take time for you, look elsewhere."
"My spouse had surgery here in the Neurology Department and let me say that despite her going through the process the Complete staff from the Valet, Receptionist, Attendants, Assistants, Nurses, Doctors, Technicians and Surgeons were all outstanding and very helpful, supportive and caring. I loved the setup and process of letting your love ones be there for the patient through out their journey. Thank you University of Texas Southwest for everything!!!!"
