"This was hands down the worst dental experience of my life. I needed emergency dental care close to home, and used this office.I had been suffering from a severe infection and high fever for over a week when I saw the doctor, and was still very sick during my visits. Dr. Douts removed two of my teeth, one of which was infected at the time of removal. He refused to give me antibiotics, which meant a follow up visit to urgent care (and another $125) for them when the infection got worse after he pulled the teeth-I could probably have come back to this office instead of going to urgent care, but there is no way I will ever set foot in this office again. He did not inform me that there was no option for gas (nitrous) when I made the arrangements for the extraction, and the removal would be with a local numbing agent only; when the procedure started and I made some slight noise, he told me "We do have other patients, so please try not to make any sounds" - I was whimpering because I could feel the procedure. Pain, not pressure, which would seem to indicate the local numbing agent wasn't strong enough and I needed an additional dose. The pain increased as the extraction went on, and by the time it was over, I was in tears; he left the room the second the last tooth was out and I never saw him again, only the dental assistant for aftercare. His only concern was the other patients comfort, not mine. That was rude and unprofessional and completely uncalled for. I wasn't being overly loud, and even if I had been screaming at the top of my lungs, his remark wasn't warranted. There is little to no privacy in this office, and apparently no soundproofing. The first exam "room" I was in had no doors at all-the patient chair is behind a small wall with door openings on each side, which means anyone walking past can see into the room and hear everything, including potentially sensitive patient information. My personal information is just as protected by privacy laws in a dentist's office as it is in a doctor's office, yet this office seems to think it's ok to have open arrangements. The dental assistant was extremely kind and helpful, but the receptionist was not. She was rude and abrupt, and made the payment process more difficult than it needed to be. After a previous negative experience with a different dentist in Cedar Lake, I specifically wrote in my patient notes for this office "please be kind", with a little background. That request was completely ignored. I was sent home with two gaping infected holes in my jaw, no antibiotics, no prescription mouthwash, nothing to clean the holes, and only general aftercare instructions. Urgent care provided me with a syringe to clean the wounds, prescription mouthwash, and antibiotics a few days after my visit to this office. I should not have had to seek care elsewhere for basic necessities. I have never been made to feel so awful about myself as I was in this office, and I have never been made to feel that guilty about being in pain. I fully believe I was treated worse because I have no insurance than I would have otherwise been, even though my visit was paid in full at the time of service. I was made to feel like a drug seeker when I requested antibiotics for the infection. This doctor could certainly use some remedial training on compassion. After my awful experience, I sent an email to the office manager detailing my concerns, and have never received so much as an acknowledgement of that email, let alone an apology. It's been more than a month since my visit, and my jaw and wounds are still tender. I have never had an extraction take so long to heal. I would not recommend Dr. Douts or Ethos Dental Group. Do yourself a favor and find a different dentist."

"I absolutely loved the doctor and staff!! They were extremely sweet and helpful, this office and their sister office are amazing!! I’ve been to many dental offices and never stuck to one because of how I was treated and put down. Here, I felt so comfortable. I have found my permanent dentist at both of their offices and will bring my entire family here from now on!! Thank you so much for taking care of me the way you guys did!!"
