Reviews of The Alamite, Tuscaloosa, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel
"Enjoyed this upscale hotel located in the heart of downtown Tuscaloosa with a view of Bryant-Denny Stadium. The thoughtful decor, attractive rooms and elevated dining options place this hotel well above the rest in the area. Roll Call, the rooftop bar, is the perfect spot to take in the city; I had the sliders and a local beer (5/5) and my friend from out-of-town loved the view. The coffee bar in the lobby offers syrups made in-house to enhance your latte; I got mine to go (5/5) but there are comfortable spaces for a business or social meeting."
"The Alamite is currently the best hotel in Tuscaloosa. The rooms are very comfortable and efficiently designed. We enjoyed dinner at Forte, and I highly recommend breakfast. The French Toast is great!"
"Stayed here for a week. The atmosphere is very classy and upscale, which we like and only stay at with Marriott. The front desk service is fine. My only issue for the price and staying in a suite, the rooms are not well attended to, there were stains on the carpets, furniture was damaged or stained, paint was peeling, walls were chipped. The rooms felt ruined down, and housekeeping did a mediocre job cleaning the rooms. Yes, they made up the bed and replaced the towels, and that was it. The bed sheets were never changed. There was no clean down of the bathroom or sweeping of the floors or mopping. I was fine with that because of less exposure in the rooms and around our things. Thank goodness there was no bad odor in the hotel or rooms. Some people aren't. The bars and rooftop were great! Both the food and service. There were no issues with parking or valet. The hotel felt secure, and there was a security presence. Our only issue was that we had a problem with the TV, a technician came to work on it, and said a manager would contact us and never did the whole stay. I really wish they would have reduced our room price, because we could not watch TV comfortably. But we got a "I'm sorry" and the bill at checkout. It was disappointing."
"My family and I arrived late at night and the staff-thankfully-checked us in quickly. Every employee at the hotel was very nice and helpful. Our room was well decorated and comfortable. Even the hairdryer provided by the hotel was better than what I’ve come to expect at hotels. Breakfast the next morning was excellent! I hope to stay here again."
"The Alamite's website describes the hotel as an "upscale boutique hotel," but my experience was quite different. When we checked in on a Sunday, the front desk clerk was handling a guest's complaint about not being able to watch a popular NFL game from their room and wanting a refund. I initially thought that request was extreme, but our own experience changed my perspective. The clerk informed us that the hotel restaurant was closed on Sundays and Mondays, valet service was only available on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, but the rooftop bar was serving food. We dropped off our belongings in our small room and headed to the rooftop, where we found the entire staff seated at the bar, chatting. When we inquired if they were still serving, one of the employees simply looked up to tell us to sit anywhere. This set the tone for an awkward dining experience. My husband ordered a pizza, while I opted for the sliders. To our disappointment, my plate arrived with two tiny, greasy, and undercooked sliders, accompanied by an overwhelming side of fries. My husband's order wasn't any better; he received a burnt cheese pizza. This further added to our less-than-pleasant experience at a hotel that claimed to be "upscale." The food had an unusual taste, and we witnessed another small group come in, sit down, and then leave without ordering. It was on Tuesday that we discovered the restaurant was open for breakfast on Monday. Unfortunately, we missed it because we had to self-park, which bypasses the lobby as the elevator goes directly to the garage. The rooms were clean but had an awkward design, with a small desk/vanity area right outside the bathroom door. This layout caused an issue when my husband was on a Zoom call, and I walked out of the bathroom, inadvertently getting in the camera's view with no way to avoid it. For a hotel claiming to be "upscale," it seriously lacks modern amenities such as valet service and consistent dining options. Overall, I'd suggest staying at the Embassy Suites for better service, an open restaurant and friendly staff."
