About the Business
The Children's Aid Society of Alabama, located at 2141 14th Avenue South in Birmingham, is a health institution dedicated to creating, preserving, and strengthening families in the community. They provide expert care and support for youth, parents, children, and professionals who work with them. In 2019, over 10,000 children were abused or neglected in Alabama, highlighting the crucial need for organizations like CAS. In 2021, CAS served thousands of individuals through their programs.
One success story from CAS involves a mother who was court-ordered to attend their EPIC Parenting classes in order to reunite with her two children in foster care. Initially cautious and guarded due to past experiences with judgment from other agencies, the mother gradually opened up and shared her struggles throughout the program. By the end of EPIC, she had a transformed attitude and had made significant progress towards finding a job and stable housing. The mother credited her success in the program for boosting her confidence in providing a safe and happy home for her children. The Children's Aid Society of Alabama continues to make a positive impact on families in need through their dedicated care and support services.

"Almost 40 years ago, Martha Chiteood was my case worker and maybe my caregiver. I can't remember because I was only a newborn baby, but I would LOVE to able to chat with Mrs. Chitwood! Baby Robin 1983"
"Our social worker was Kathy King. She did an amazing job from our first phone call to the last. She always took her time with me & my husband on the phone & in person. She is very knowledgeable & the library there also has a great selection of books & dvds. It is very user-friendly. Kathy was always easy to communicate with whether it was on the phone or by email. She really put us at ease through the whole process & this was our first time to go through it. Adoption is overwhelming & I had no idea how to start but I believe the Lord led us to CAS & He worked out the rest of the details."
"The staff is super friendly and helpful. They offer classes and other helpful resources"
