Reviews of Plato's Closet
"My experience here, today was not good. I was in and out of the store for a few hours checking on when my clothes would be ready for pick up. All 5 times I came in the store I would feel that the workers were really annoyed with me and just being flat out unfriendly I don’t wanna say rude because they weren’t rude. They were just unfriendly and did not care to answer any questions. I waited a total of 3 1/2 hours to pick up my clothes they only took a handful of items. The stuff they did purchase, was my most worn and disheveled clothing in my basket, and in the unused brand-name clothing they did not take. They said it was due to staining and something else the lady wasn’t talking loud enough for me to hear. But the clothing I got returned to me was brand new maybe worn once for a nice event and then put in my closet I just really wanted all the stuff out of there and I didn’t care what kind of price I get I just wanted it gone. The laundry basket I dropped off was neatly folded, the laundry basket I got in return the clothes were crumpled wrinkled and not taken care of while they were looking through them. The last two times I have been to Plato’s closet this exact thing has happened. The breaking point this time was when I overheard the women at the front talking about customers and their clothing. The only reason I’m not giving a one star is that the store is well-maintained and clean and very organized."
"Friendly staff, great prices on gently used clothing. My favorite place to go for something new to wear."
"My wife and I found some great outfits for her every day. And we even found some great outfits for a music festival, all in one trip, with great prices!"
"I have been a long time seller/purchaser with Plato’s Closet. I have NEVER been treated so badly as I was Today in Fairview Heights. I was told that if I wanted To try on a pair of timberlands I had To do it at the register. Which was fine however I have A injured hip and I had to sit in the floor and looked mortified while struggling. I then decided not to get a flannel I had the cashier hold while I tried on 2 pairs of shorts. The cashier was busy, I decided not to get the flannel and returned it to the rack. When she was available she stated “I just have to ask if you returned the shirt?” “It’s our policy” What? You don’t follow other customers around to “SEE” if they returned an item to the rack! I stated “Yes. I returned it to the rack right there” while pointing. Facts: the store was not busy. 3 people behind the main counter talking while looking over items brought in and 2 people busy hanging up clothes from the dressing room. Total shoppers =3! She accused me of shoplifting without stating “Are you stealing?”. Never in my life… time to write corporate."
"Extremely friendly staff, really looking out for the buyers and sellers. Could work on their speed when going over the sellers items. Not so much for the wait, I’m ok with waiting, but it looks bad when you are coming back and forth to your pile your working on. I know they are doing their best, but to the seller and buyers it looks like you want to do something else with your time. Other than that they were very helpful with information and guidance. This is the nicest store I’ve seen yet and very well taken care of which is rare to see for a thrift store. Keep up the hard work ladies!"
